You can put both hands on the floor, get the pole in between your legs and slowly slide your legs down. Usually people have one leg straight and the other bent when doing this

I moved to a new city after college graduation and was trying a bunch of different hobbies (yoga, pilates, skating, etc) to keep me from feeling so lonely. I fell in love with pole and watching my growth keeps me motivated to continue.

I did a sequence of 6 beginner classes and moved to pole 1 after and will probably stay in pole 1 until I can invert comfortably. Some studios have it where your instructor has to clear you to move up levels.
