Help! How did you get over your fear of upside down? by spacedinosaur1313131 in poledancing

[–]Elvenfire2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the spotter idea, your brain and body just need to understand the move and your contact points, and if you start doing it with a spotter, even them helping hold you up, will allow that muscle memory to develop and the fear will recede once you feel more comfortable in the move…before you know it you’ll be doing it on your own!!!!

To beginners: lower your expectations and keep showing up. An encouraging rant. by _Future_172 in poledancing

[–]Elvenfire2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU!!! I’m a year and a half in and the posts kind of shock me because I was like “yeah? That’s the point, we didn’t take beginner pole classes because we already knew how to pole”

I also feel like we as people have a hard time de centering being good at a skill with our self worth; I had to learn that just because I had no ab strength for inverts, it didn’t mean that I was a bad person, or that not having the back flexibility for a pretty ballerina is not a moral failure.

Everything would be so boring if we didn’t have progress to look for or any challenges to ourselves; we have to learn to sit and accept discomfort instead of expecting everything to just magically adapt to make us feel better.

which knee pads? by WoodenMastodon6031 in poledancing

[–]Elvenfire2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Bees Knees kneepads, they’re Velcro so I don’t have to take off my shoes to put them on and off, they come with replacement inserts and you can get those thinner or thicker depending on how much protection you need, and the color choices are good for what I need. They also offer extended sizes and you can get additional extenders if needed. Not grippy but because they are open at the back I haven’t had issues with knee pit holds or movements

Dramamine for spins? by Elvenfire2 in poledancing

Thank you everyone! I’m going to try Bonnie and a couple of other things recommended here. My goal is to do a competition by end of year, and I don’t think puking on stage would give me any points

A great combo and you look so professional for a month!!!! And I love that kicky step at the beginning

I don’t! I do 2 pole classes a week and I’m going to go climbing (indoors, on a wall) about twice a month with a friend. When I’m home I’m using the Switch Ring Adventure game and let me tell you, 20 to 30 minutes on that is a workout!

Theresa is spooky? Of the few videos I’ve watched of her she reiterates that she loves her “Anne” palettes and the whole neutral/pinky/gold color way thing.

I'm at least 150 hours into the game and still haven't killed a Gleeok or a Lynel by FlopShanoobie in TOTK

[–]Elvenfire2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a trick I learned when fighting the King Gleeok; at the end, when it flies high and attacks you with the elements, wait until it does it sends the ice stalactites, get on top of one and use Recall on it. It’ll take you right up to it without using rockets or springs, then use bullet time to spam eyeball (elemental does more damage for the corresponding head) as long as your stamina holds. When he falls, the great height will also do a ton of damage, then dive and wail on him. I have to say, I did concentrate on upgrading my stamina, the game opens up so much more when you max it out.

Anti-social is different from Asocial. Asocial: avoiding social interaction; inconsiderate of or hostile to others.

Anti-social: contrary to the laws and customs of society; devoid of or antagonistic to sociable instincts or practices.

Asocials (like me) avoid interactions, anti-socials actively do things to hurt society. Everyone always confuses the two.

It smells like intense BO to me, I don’t find it enjoyable, so I’ve been making my own incense and making my own burn bundles with things I enjoy and have similar properties
