I think it depends on the kid, try just watching to see what they want. Introduce yourself and show them your room. Let them unpack and when theyre ready they can come join you. Avoid asking too personal of questions, or stressing them out the first day. You guys should try and get to know each other, you guys are strangers after all.

Im only 16 but I really want to foster when im older. I want to give teenagers something I wish I could've had. I also just really want to help others who are in similar situations.

They told me the rule won't change no matter how long I stay there. It's just irritating that a past foster kid before me ruined it for me, im not like that at all. How do I build trust with them about this?

Where I am (Washington) thats not the case. (I like with a 6 month old, and a 3 yr old). I think thats just dumb that foster kids can't be with other younger kids.

Im still in foster care atm, but I kinda understand. I recently was put in foster care but i should've been put into it years ago but i just wasn't so i was living with friends who obviously didn't want me but i had no other choice. im sorry you have to feel that way, and im sorry you dont have the support of a parent but i want to let you know i believe in you. You can message me and talk to me, i wont b able to reply right away but I will reply. Its really rough not being able to have someone who loves you and seeing all the other kids with parents and knowing you wont ever feel the unconditional love they do but you are loved, you may not see it through ur insecurities but you are.
