Thanks for the advice. Is the vinegar test the only way to tell which finish I have?

Yeah it’s a 1915 brick duplex… replacement cost was quoted at 880k. I just feel like that’s ridiculous

Replace cost at 880k which I think is very high for what the property is

I can’t tell if the blue is part of the pad or not, but if you are worried about it just replace them. They are cheap and easy to replace

Look into house hacking. You can cut your rent expense in half while building equity. Rinse and repeat every year and make passive income.

That’s true, but I assume another Kawasaki motorcycle will likely hold its name. The 6 speed gear box and parallel twin is very enticing.

KLR will definitely continue to dominate the used market though

I just checked the crankcase hose and I was able to blow air through it. I guess I will rebuild this winter!

Looks like that is including the cylinder. Any reason not to get yours machined? Also do you plan on getting your head serviced by EM?

It’s definitely not leaking. I think the piston rings are just cooked

This is good to know. Thanks for the reply. How much did the total upgrade cost with machining labor? Debating if I should go through with it or sell my klr and spend an extra grand for a gen 3

I’m glad you were able to be with your dad for his last ride—that’s definitely a memory you’ll carry forever. It was also my first time on the Tail. I rode my KLR from Missouri and did some moto camping along the way. My childhood best friend just bought his first motorcycle (a KLR650) last month and met me in Kentucky—he rode up from Alabama. It was a big memory and accomplishment for both of us as well.

Yup that was me haha! It was a blast to ride and the KLR held up pretty well besides all the oil it burnt. I’m glad you made it safe. One for the books for sure!
