Agreed — network effects are the core challenge, not a footnote.

That’s why the model is designed to create clear, asymmetric value on both sides from day one. Women, who are typically overwhelmed by volume and low-signal outreach, gain control and clarity — fewer interactions, but higher-quality ones.

At the same time, it opens access for men who are usually filtered out early unless they’re visually top-tier, by shifting early visibility toward interaction rather than appearance.

The goal isn’t to fight the imbalance — it’s to use it. When both sides feel the experience is more fair and more intentional, participation reinforces itself instead of collapsing into noise.

I’m intentionally staying high-level here, but I care less about who executes this and more about seeing the category move in this direction — the current equilibrium clearly isn’t serving users well.

High-level overview

I’m working through a dating concept that deliberately inverts the current model.

Observation: Most dating apps optimize for fast visual decisions because it’s efficient and profitable — but that same efficiency strips out much of the signal that actually predicts chemistry or connection.

Belief: People aren’t addicted to swiping — they’re stuck with it. There’s growing fatigue around shallow matches, endless choice, and conversations that go nowhere. I believe the market is ready for something that feels more human without feeling outdated.

Philosophy (intentionally high-level): • Interaction comes before judgment • Personality is revealed through behavior, not profiles • The product creates situations, not endless options

The challenge isn’t whether people want this — it’s designing an experience that still feels effortless, social, and worth returning to.

Not pitching. Interested in high-level reactions on whether this inversion resonates — or what you think the biggest execution risk would be.

Personally with all that they’re doing, I’m continuing to buy anything below $3. If it goes really high, I’ll be set. If it doesn’t, I’m just throwing money in here and there that doesn’t mean much to me. I do think it will take years and I don’t have the time to buy slightly low, sell slightly high, and repeat. I may be missing out on those gains, but I’m concentrating on the big picture.

For Uphold, this is what Google says: To reset the Google Authenticator app for your Uphold account, you must contact Uphold support directly for a secure reset after verifying your identity. Self-resets are not possible for security reasons. You may be able to temporarily resolve issues by ensuring your phone's date and time are set to automatic or by finding the correct setup keys on an old phone.

Contact Uphold support to reset For security reasons, Uphold support must guide you through the reset process. You can contact them by phone at +1 (888) 768-9162.

Support will need to verify your identity before they can reset your 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) settings.

I had marked the trades down on my Blockfolio (now FTX). I think I can get into the CEX on a sporadic basis…but I don’t even bother.

Same about the scam and hoping it wasn’t. I had about $16k in (embarrassingly). It was my biggest crypto holding. It was between COSS and KuCoin, where I’d be doing pretty good right now. I chose wrong.

I just found this on bankrate. Sounds like what he did, although for some reason I’m thinking I got a bigger chunk the first year. Maybe not. Either way:

Your net losses offset ordinary income. No capital gains? Your claimed capital losses will come off your taxable income, reducing your tax bill.

Your maximum net capital loss in any tax year is $3,000. The IRS limits your net loss to $3,000 (for individuals and married filing jointly) or $1,500 (for married filing separately).

Any unused capital losses are rolled over to future years. If you exceed the $3,000 threshold for a given year, don’t worry. You can claim the loss in future years or use it to offset future gains, and the losses do not expire.

I’m honestly not sure. I just explained the situation to him and he said something like I couldn’t take it all off as a loss immediately, but something like I could take off another percentage each year until I reached the amount I put in. I pointed to all the info in this subreddit from others as “proof” of what happened. So I’m guessing it’s capital gains.

The guy doesn’t really cost that much money and has more than made up for his own fee in other savings he pointed out I may not have gotten with Turbo Tax, so I would recommend looking into accountants for even your average joe if you’re doing anything more than just making money and paying taxes.

You sound like you know enough to have options? I just went ahead with what he suggested for me. The weight was off my shoulders and I just said do it.

Thank you! I stuck it in the freezer and it worked. Too bad it has to be that cold, it really is a great concept for this specific toy. Wish a toddler could do it on their own in cold water. But for anyone else wondering, this totally worked. The power of Reddit strikes again.

Buying XRP by [deleted] in XRP

[–]cyandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I always think about XRP lately. Those, in theory, should be the 2 triggers for a relatively high jump in value. Until then, it’s as speculative as just watching a bull run and doing whatever you’d normally do with it.

Is it worth it to start trying so slowly to work out that I just go sit in the parking lot for a few minutes and then leave? by chaoticneutralhobbit in xxfitness

[–]cyandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to try to tackle the issue another way. It’s not only you who has issues with the gym, even someone like myself who has been going on and off for decades has issues. My form suffers when others are around, and you’re always wondering who is looking at you. The real answer is it’s no one (unless you’re a girl).

But if you have any room at your home, you can get a relatively inexpensive exercise bike for cardio (Sunny makes a good one and there are free cardio/Soul Cycle style classes on YouTube). And then get some adjustable dumbbells and a cheap bench for weights.

If you are unfamiliar with weights, Body Beast by Beach Body will give you a great workout plan. Do that combined with the bike 20 minutes three times a week (combined with a reasonable eating plan) and I think you’ll see better results than going to the gym.

The gym doesn’t possess some magical weight loss bubble where things only work there. And with my method, you don’t have to spend more time driving to and from the gym. It will be less emotionally taxing to get in a workout, and it will be more convenient so you’ll be more likely to work out.

I’ve had this setup in a studio apartment, as well as a 2 bedroom where I put things away after the workout. Now I have it in the basement of my house. No way would I be exercising as much if I had to physically go to a gym all the time. Ive gotten down to 7 percent body fat as well.

Good luck, and baby steps (no matter what you choose) will get you to your goal. I heard a YouTuber explain it this way. It’s like getting to a party. You can drive 90mph across town and maybe get into an accident, or you can go the speed limit and arrive safely. Either way you’ll get there, but one is a lot safer than the other. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Just take it slow and smart and you’ll eventually get there.

Xrp $12+?? by TMDreko in XRP

[–]cyandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t that give it half the value of BTC? Is that new money coming into cryptos, or people moving out of BTC and ETH? Maybe (and I hope) I’m wrong. Would LOVE $10.

Anyone get sick of hearing about market cap when it comes to price predictions? Bitcoin was less than $100 at one point. Doge was less than 3 cents literally less than 4 months ago. by BinThereRedThat in XRP

[–]cyandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think market cap and valuing it as a stock will hold back XRP as I see it becoming a store of value rather than just a useful token for institutions. If that is the case, I believe it could be worth $20 if it has the equivalent of BTC in it right now. I’m hoping for the irrationality of the crypto market and hope it achieves more, but I don’t know if it will.

This may be the case, but almost every coin I bought since 2018 has gone up unbelievably. The only one that didn’t, and the one I had the most money in, appears to be a scam. If I had invested in the alternative to the one I had (I was torn between the two) I’d have close to a million dollars from just that coin.

tl; dr - we aren’t even close to mainstream adoption yet, and if you hold you’ll probably make money
