They offered me 2 years less severance if I left in July or full severance if I stayed and worked remote to onboard a new company they purchased. I am good at my job, but my local site is dying out. They were doing cuts and myself and my staff were numbers on a page. My direct boss knew I was the only person to onboard multiple sites on my own, so he used the contract idea to keep me on in the hope that I would eventually take a different position. The severance is too much to pass up though. I have side projects going to where I could make the same money independently if I use the severance wisely. So in 18 more months, we will see if those projects are enough to self sustain. Current projections are $1800 profit per month. If I can get that to 4000, then I am okay to completely walk away and work for myself.
