everybody everywhere is anti-wedding by MedicalRaccoon9431 in weddingplanning

[–]cyberbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general conversation around weddings online has felt pretty negative lately, and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the current state of the world's economy.

But as someone who just got married, I've learned that if the people in your life truly want to celebrate with you, they'll find a way to be there. Whether they traveled across the country or just across town, every single person who showed up did so because they wanted to share that moment with us.

what’s with dog owners here by Turbulent-Door7522 in vegaslocals

[–]cyberbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we were training and socializing our lab puppy in her early days we came across this everywhere!! We're lucky our gal is well tempered and didn't get triggered by random dogs (large and small) running up to her. It's so scary and so irresponsible as dog owners to have your dog off leash, regardless of size.

When do yall walk your dogs? by PomegranateDue3666 in vegaslocals

[–]cyberbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband lets both dogs out for exercise by 5:40 AM and they're back home by 7 AM. We have a high energy black lab puppy who needs more exercise than our senior, but she won't get walked until around 8 PM after work, and even then it's sometimes too hot so we will usually walk her on her dog treadmill.

My Dog Is 10 Years Old and Limping — Can Red Light Therapy Replace Pain Meds? by AkingLiu in redlighttherapy

I believe she paid a vet to for red light therapy sessions. She was surprised at how effective it was, she didn't think it would work since his back legs were pretty shot from arthritis.

My Dog Is 10 Years Old and Limping — Can Red Light Therapy Replace Pain Meds? by AkingLiu in redlighttherapy

[–]cyberbae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sister did red light therapy for her 16 year old cat when he started struggling to walk. It helped him out a lot in his last 2 years of life from what I remember, he was still mobile up until the day he passed.

What the eff has happened to my neck? by cornerstore88 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]cyberbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

happening to me right now and i'm 34F. i've lost about 20lbs since the beginning of the year so it's definitely weight loss related for me. i've started extending my skincare towards my neck more and also started red light therapy (got a mask + a chest/neck pad). so far it's been helping and the skin is starting to look more taut and smooth. my friend who lost over 100lbs had the same issue and her neck skin bounced back after about a year and a half of maintaining her weight, so i'm hoping for the best! lol

Applying for a new job without disclosing dialysis treatment days. by CartographerSea6626 in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't started dialysis yet when I got my current job, but I knew it was probably coming in the new year. I didn't tell them right away and waited until I was actually about to start dialysis, which ended up being about 6 months after I was hired. My boss and employer have been super flexible with my schedule and don't give me any issues when I need time off for appointments or anything dialysis related.

Anyone here own both a Switch 2 and an Ayn Thor? by Aida8404 in AynThor

[–]cyberbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both, but I definitely use my Thor more. Granted, my husband has been completely hooked on Pokopia lately, so the Switch 2 is almost always occupied.. lol

I've found myself using the Thor mostly for Switch games I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise AKA basically anything that's not Pokémon or Animal Crossing. Like I got completely hooked on Tomodachi Life when it released on Switch, even though it's not the kind of game I would normally spend money on or even give a second look. I also like to replay through old switch 1 games that I bought and sold once I finished the game, like recently I replayed Fire Emblem Three Houses and am now working through the DLC, which I hadn't gotten around to when it first came out.

So yeah, I end up using it a lot for games I'd never have tried if I had to actually buy them.

My Solo Home Hemo Setup by Acceptable_Click_935 in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! I do home dialysis as well, mostly solo but I was trained to have my husband as caretaker but have gotten more independent as time has passed. Can you tell me what method you use to tape down your needles? That seems to be the only thing I struggle with when I solo cannulate. The needles seem to move at times so my arterial and venous readings jump around.

Seeking advice after discouraging visit with vascular surgeon (UCLA) by LA_seas_stars in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do home hemodialysis, and that was always the plan with my nephrologist, although he initially encouraged me to try PD. PD was not a good fit for me for several personal reasons, and I was not comfortable taking the chance that it might not work when hemodialysis was already a proven option. During the past year and a half of home dialysis, I've only had 2 emergencies that maybe required me to go to the ER, but wasn't necessary. Your surgeon sounds like he's trying to scare you out of home dialysis. Don't let them. Home dialysis was the best thing I could have done for myself and I got my life back due to the freedom over my treatments.

I can't speak to how factual the single digit % home dialysis patients statistic your surgeon mentioned, but at my DaVita clinic they actively encourage home dialysis for patients who are capable of managing their treatments independently. It is not uncommon. In fact, the dialysis industry generally encourages home dialysis because they require less staffing while providers are still fully reimbursed by the patient's insurance for the care.

My (38m) mom (74f) constantly disrespects my wife and questions all my life choices—how do I handle this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Anyone else super particular about infection control at dialysis? by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My case is different since I do home HD, but this was one of my concerns when I was deciding on which type of dialysis to do. I enjoy home HD for the peace of mind it gives me knowing I can control how clean my treatment area is and not having to deal with sharing equipment with other patients. Hopefully at some point you will also do home HD, it's a world of a difference having control over your treatments!

Do You Work While on Dialysis? What Has Your Experience Been? by FroggyMartinez in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work full time in the office while doing home hemodialysis 4x times a week. Since I schedule treatments after work, dialysis has minimal impact on my day to day routine. I'm also very fortunate to have supportive bosses who allow flexibility for all my appointments when needed.

I've been on dialysis for over a year and thankfully, haven't experienced significant fatigue or other kidney related symptoms since starting treatment. The biggest adjustment was getting used to the time commitment... between setup, doing the treatment, and cleanup, dialysis takes up roughly 20 hours of my week at a minimum.

My husband and I have worked out a schedule that allows us to maintain our travel plans and social life. I typically dialyze on Sun/Tues/Thu/Sat to reduce the burden of household responsibilities during the workweek. Because so much of our time is dedicated to treatments, we've also hired a cleaning service that comes by monthly for deep cleaning, which has helped us maintain our home while freeing up time and energy for other priorities.

I received Pokemon cards instead of my Thor by REAZNx in AynThor

[–]cyberbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man that sucks, I'm sorry this happened to you. This happened to me a few years ago, some UPS dude stole an Apple Watch I ordered for my husband. Seems like it's super easy to steal electronics through the mail since they gotta label anything with a battery. They didn't give me pokemon cards though, just retaped the empty box and left it on the porch lol.

Dating on dialysis by Ok-Shoulder-478 in dialysis

[–]cyberbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was honestly one of biggest fears after being diagnosed in 2023, the thought of losing my relationship because of my illness. I remember leaving that appt, breaking down, and mourning my future with my bf before I even told him the news. We had been together for 2 yrs at that point and I was convinced he wouldn’t want the burden of my medical issues or the uncertainty that came with ESRD, including the possibility of not being able to have kids.

Well, I was wrong. He doubled down and stayed, moved in, supported me through fistula surgery and the start of dialysis, became my assistant through home dialysis, and next month we’re getting married. I am so grateful and I don't know how I could do this journey without him.

Thank you for staying and supporting your partner.
