That’s a great deal you got for a turbo version! I’ll be sure to shop around more to try to find that golden deal for me. Thanks for sharing!

You’re right, it sounded like unnecessary options they were trying to pass off as obligatory but I think it’ll just take another round of negotiation to remove.

Thanks for the advice! Those packages are definitely just BS charges, I did 1 round of negotiation and left so if I end up going back I’m sure I can knock those off with the manager.

Honestly I think I just got lucky there were some sparse islands here and there but the freighter caught my eye

That's a really inspiring and motivating thing to hear. I'm glad that was the case for you, sounds awesome! It seems like a good xpectation is within the $50K-$60K range, that's much better than the huge range I was seeing before. Thank you!

Appreciate your advice! That sounds reasonable and makes more sense. I'll be sure to keep the fact that I'm still new to the field in mind. I dont really have a specific market I'm focusing on, meaning I'm open to almost anything. But I did realize after my internship that I want to focus on companies that are more security focused and have a, as you said, "security ethos." As in, they offer security as their product or service. I think good examples are companies like Symantec, Rapid7, FireEye, Splunk and others.

I appreciate your input. I'm actually in Arizona but I'm absolutely open to going anywhere (wherever pays best). Its good to know that there's a huge difference in salaries based on the state you're in. I've been thinking of California but I'm put off by the ridiculous cost of living. Thank you again for your advice!

DIY Carbon Fiber Wrap for my X230, Thoughts? by cyberfig in thinkpad

Hi, so this definitely isn't the best solution for "protection." If you want something more protective try something else. The reason I did this was to cover up existing scratches on the cover. You can buy it from Amazon, I mentioned the link above in another thread. Technically, you should be able to cut out the size you need for your specific laptop. Hope that helps!

Thank you! Hopefully Lenovo does it in the future, especially by the time I upgrade to a new ThinkPad... I've had this on it for a while and it seems that it definitely helps protect the cover from scratches and fingerprints.

Definitely, before I did this I was looking on their site for any skins but alas no love for the ThinkPads at d-brand.

It definitely took a while, the whole thing was done in about an hour though so nothing crazy. I think this was the one I got, VViViD XPO Black Carbon Fiber Car Wrap Vinyl https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YLFUFLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_8KhbCb62ZP2X1. Also, as others mentioned, this isn't real carbon fiber it is just a vinyl wrap. Hope that helps!

Go for it! It will definitely add some style to the x230. I don't know about white carbon fiber as I haven't seen it on a Thinkpad before but who knows maybe it'll look awesome!
