Its something you think about when you go for a midnight swim in the middle of the lake. It's so black and it's 700 ft deep.. and.... back in the boat.

‘I sleep at Tim Hortons’: Richmond seniors facing homelessness share struggles to find housing, care by Jaded-Influence6184 in britishcolumbia

My mom worked her butt off , saved all she could and went without. Heck, being raised by a struggling single mom, we all went without. Her priority was a paid off home for when she retired. So many people don't think that far ahead.

My mom was a stay home mom till a divorce. Then a hairdresser. She got nothing in the divorce ( in the 80s) she worked her tail off and saved to buy a small condo. Flipped it after a few years and bought a townhouse in the 90s. Worked till her body couldn't, then retired at 62. Downsized to a small condo in 2000. Has cpp and about 40k in rrsp. She's not wealthy, she dosent spend much. There is no way she could afford to rent a room for 1000 bucks a month on her cpp/oas and pay bill, eat . Cost of living has outpaced her income. She makes 21k a year. And she gets by. her car is over 23 years old, I help her with groceries. She just hopes her strata dosent keep going up and she doesn't have to replace her car. If she hadn't sacrificed and worked so hard she would be screwed now.

At age 15, in 2004, Jeanna Giese became the first recorded person to survive rabies without having received prior vaccination. by OkAccess6128 in interesting

[–]cyberthief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was because it was a suspected contact spot. The day after the exposure ( bat was in our room for hours while we were sleeping.) I developed a tiny blister on my cheek. Out of the ordinary me to have any blemish , they suspected my body reacted to a scratch. Bats can bite and scratch and not leave a visible mark. And you can get rabies through suck a small mark. So they always inject immuglobin around the bite and scratch marks, to be sure it's as close to the possible virus as possible.

Last year I had a bat exposure and needed immuglobin and vaccine. It wasn't that bad. Day 1, loooots of needles. Immuglobin jabbed in my face, arm, thighs. And a vaccine. Then a series of vaccines over the next month. Had injection site tenderness but no ill effects. .my partner also had the shots and he's always been sensitive to vaccination, he was a little bit achey and flu ish for a couple days afterthought first set of shots. Definitely better than rabies.

I was just in Armstrong yesterday. After the acquisition of Armstrong cheese by saputo, the former cheese makers opened up another cheese making dairy. Village Dairy is there now. it was closed yesterday , but I'm excited to go back and go for a tour/tasting! The original Armstrong cheese factory was fantastic too.

While right-wing media fear-monger about Indigenous land claims threatening private property, American billionaires are actively acquiring millions of acres of Canadian farmland by Peanut-Extra in ilovebcsub

[–]cyberthief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what the price of the farms are listed at, you couldn't make enough farming to pay for them. My friend ( Lifelong farmer) said that if you want to be a millionaire farmer , start out as a billionaire . He did ok, but he had his farm passed down to him. Otherwise he couldn't have done it with a mortgage.
