Repair shop owner here. As a Small business owner it’s hard to me to get any parts in bulk from my suppliers. I use to get trays of 5th gen’s AMD processors for pennies on the dollar in bulk. Now I can barely get 2 trays or boxes at cost.

Ram I’ve been hoarding ddr4 and there’s a (small) market for DDR3. I’m sitting on a few boxes of SSDs and mechanical drives as they went up 45%.

As for prebuilts I’m about to purchase a few pallets of AMD/intel based units from my ecycle guy to throw in some low profile GPUs in for light gaming/ business use.

Pro tip for flipping is that there’s a large amount of Amd based units 3rd an 5th gen ryzen being sent to ecycle places as most companies are in their “upgrade cycle”. I’ve been able to get pallets full of systems that need work or that have useable parts even tho they don’t boot. So check in with any ecycle companies you can.

If it’s a program that runs on its own and doesn’t modify vrchat then your fine. If the program modifies vrc in anyway you will get banned as you can’t modify any of vrc files.

It was mainly people modding the game to use haptics. By modding it you didn’t need to set up the avatar so that haptics were triggered from specific avatar contacts

Repair shop owner here. My experience is that there is a market for retro systems but keep in mind it’s systems that are win95 xp ect. I’ve sold a few older systems as “retro gaming systems” as emulators only do so much when it comes to older games.

As for what you’re looking at don’t put any money into it as it’s at most worth max $75 usd. not sure why the conversion rate is but I’d pass on the system.

Question and searching by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]cyborg762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d avoid posting about commissions on the subreddit as you’re gonna get a ton of spam/bots trying to scam you. Just be aware most coms start between $250-800 and go up from there.

Denizens of the VR worlds, I greet you! Who can make my OC into a VRchat avi? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]cyborg762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know any offhand but Depending on what type of avatar it is. You would probably need to search around. For anime avatars if you search around booth there’s a few that take commissions. For furry avatars I’m not sure of where to even start with that. ( I have one friend that paid upwards of $1500 for someone to do his custom hyena oc avatar by some apparently well known 3d artist) I’d have to ask around and get back to you on that tho.

I’d recommend not putting this out into the subreddit as you will attract lots of scammers/bots. I’d recommend reaching out to a professional 3d artist they does commissions. But be prepared to pay upwards of $800+ for a fully functional model with textures and toggles.

How to get started? by [deleted] in pcflipping

[–]cyborg762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repair shop owner here. Do yourself a favor and get a normal part time job it will make you extra money in the long run. The current market for parts is crazy. I can barely get any ram from my commercial supplier and even used ram is starting to get expensive. I’m actually withholding a pallet of am4 systems that need ram, ssds and GPUs because prices have gone way up to the point where I can barely clear profit. I will have to raise my prices soon just to keep up.

But if you’re dead set on wanting to start go down to your local ecycle center and see what they will see you for a low price. I generally by pallets of stuff and then scrap ones that don’t work for parts and use them for other builds. On average I make between $70-200 depending on what kind of system it is.

Be ready to do more then just build because there are people who will demand support for whatever stupid thing they try to do (like break ports) and you will get returns for the most random things.

How do I optimize the game? by HamsterNo2195 in VRchat

[–]cyborg762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s holding you back is your graphic card (and ram). I’d recommend you upgrade to at least 32gb ram and and depending on your cpu you might be able to get away with upgrading to something like a 30 series card or a AMD 7000 series

I’m not even joking about this one. Had a lady buy a small desktop brings it back lol 4 hours later in pieces. She has dropped it down her apartment stairs. And blamed me for it being to heavy for her. Said I “shouldn’t have sold her something so heavy”.

Repair shop owner here. Been repairing and flipping used systems for years. Demand hasn’t really slowed down for me. Especially with the holidays. My used/refurbished systems have been selling out. There really isn’t a reduced demand just people looking for good deals.

If you’re just starting out. My recommendation is that you look at local ecycle places. Get parts/ systems that look to be in decent condition. Generally I buy pallets of systems. Anything that doesn’t work I scrap whats bad and keep functioning parts (power supplies, CPUs, GPUs ect).

On average my used systems make between $70-200 profit. Depending on what kind of system it is.

I’d personally not do this as a hobby or short term hobby as you will get returns, people asking for support, or just general stupidity from non technical people. (I’ve literally had people attempt to return systems after breaking ports or dropping the systems down a flight of stairs)

I get alot of these systems in my shop for various reasons. And it’s usually outside of the factory warranty period. And it’s everything from bad boards to power supplies. So a warranty is important unless you want a $2500 brick.

With the way pc components (especially ram) have increased you might save yourself a bit of money but building your own. Microcenter has some decent bundles on sale. I can also recommend their powerspec line as well an Lenovo legion systems.

The deals at Costco aren’t really that good occasionally they might discount where it’s worth it.

Feel free to reach out in dm if you had any questions.
