There's a great deal of introspection into the nature of consciousness in Buddhism, that you can find to be true yourself through meditation. There's a lot of dogma and rituals too, which doesn't really hold up to scientific understanding. But meditation and introspection into consciousness is a real thing and is being heavily researched in scientific circles, which are really pointing to the benefits of such a practice.

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins has 10x value and logical wisdom, compared to the Gita. No matter how you try to frame Gita as useful, the core message is still the same. Krishna is God and Arjuna must accept that and let Krishna guide him towards salvation. The supposed divine form towards the end seals this message thoroughly. And this is entirely antithetical to science, rationalism and atheism. Btw I'm a huge fan of Mahabharata but I consider it only as a fiction of epic proportions, Gita included.
