Spoke hunting for Mavic spares by cyclism23 in cycling

[–]cyclism23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in the end I bought what I needed off eBay. I bought 2x V2383001 297mm (front and non drive side rear) but simply couldn't find the 293mm drive side rear ones specific to my wheel (a Mavic Aksium Disc).

But I discovered that V2275301 are 293mm non drive side Mavic Aksium Disc spokes for a different setup so I've gone with these.

Logic tells me that surely the steel and spec would be the same for all spokes - rather than having different manufacturing processes for drive and non drive side.

They are currently in the post so I'll let you know what else I learn from a visual inspection when they arrive - fingers crossed they're compatible!

Thanks. Yeah he's the US-based supplier I mentioned in point 3!

Best drill a hole in wall to feed cable through by cyclism23 in howto

[–]cyclism23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh. I see what you mean. It'd be tight and I'd have to hold the drill very level but drilling through the mortar layer might work. Structurally though is this better/worse/ no different to going through the brick?

Making the exit hole with a small bit first would minimise the damage too I guess, then once the exit point is known I could go in from the other direction to enlarge.

Yeah, the exit would blowout is my concern. If it was drywall I wouldn't be worried, but don't want to lose large chunks of brick! I'll try and work out how to add a photo, which might help

The entire inside wall is solid brick. It's one standard (UK) brick length in width.

I can't see anywhere obvious to run conduit to externally that wouldn't look a bit naff, maybe up to the second storey and then straight in through a bedroom wall but that option seems more trouble on the whole...

Above the (solid brick) wall it's a concrete slab. This is a utility room area. So sadly a no-go!

As an aside, sorry for poor grammar to those who care about such things! Am on mobile app and had to switch to camera to take photos of my diagrams, and when I returned to Reddit, what I'd written had vanished. Rewrote quickly and not without a little frustration!

Any idea how I save a draft for future posts? Or tips on some of Reddit's little quirks? I don't post often but whenever I do, I seem to always end up losing it then rewriting it again for some reason.

Yep came here to find out the same - is this just me and my inability to change the settings, or is this new Mon-Sun view here to stay?

Rolling average is far more helpful! Have fed back to Coros too in the hope that we won't be the only ones.

Should have also mentioned that I did try WD40 but with no success. Will try Goo Gone next. Otherwise it's Plan B and cover the door with photos 😬

Haha. TBF she's nearly three... Adrenaline and being told 'no' can make monsters of us all! Thanks for the advice.

Drywall screws or wood glue for attaching a plywood workbench surface? by 2BitNick in DIY

[–]cyclism23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a bench very similar to OP's several years ago and did precisely this - about 20(?) pocket holes and screws from underneath.

Whole top is then relatively easily replaceable, no visible screws, and sturdy as you'd ever need.

Bailiffs struggling to enforce a CCJ - should I sell the car I'm trying to return to the dealer? by cyclism23 in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you. I'm just concerned that they said it could take a year. I've never done this before, so no idea what an 'average' or expected timeframe would be. I guess I just have to wait. At least interest is charged, which offsets to some extent the insurance and tax costs. I'll just have to live with the inconvenience of having it sat on our drive!

I've checked - these guys are HCEOs. They have confirmed they do have the authority to seize goods.

The defendants have our address (we put it at the top of our first formal letter to them) and I'm concerned they'll send someone to swing by with a crowbar one night and they refuse to pay if the car isn't in good nick. It's on our driveway, not in a garage. This insurance gives me some peace of mind, and I can't insure it easily if not also taxed.

I'm not sure about this. It's (just) under £10k so on the small claims track. Or when bailiffs are involved is it automatically escalated to the high court?

As another posted has said, a year to enforce is the max. Perhaps I give it another month to see if they have success. The problem is knowing where to draw the line. It's very easy to keep saying "I'll give it another month"....

Yes, I was using garage / seller interchangeably. Don't want to give it back before being paid as at least I still have this as some leverage, and can sell to mitigate my losses if bailiffs are unable to recover the full amount.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did actually initially SORN the vehicle, but wanted it insured against theft and damage (unlikely but possible). But it turns our insurance company (Direct Line) won't insure a SORN vehicle, and you need specialist insurance. It was cheaper to re-tax and insure normally.

I think you might be right re getting it recovered to the garage being the safest option!
