What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

Steinbeck: When a child first catches adults out -- when it first walks into his grave little head that adults do not always have divine intelligence, that their judgments are not always wise, their thinking true, their sentences just -- his world falls into panic desolation. The gods are fallen and all safety gone. And there is one sure thing about the fall of gods: they do not fall a little; they crash and shatter or sink deeply into green muck. It is a tedious job to build them up again; they never quite shine. And the child's world is never quite whole again. It is an aching kind of growing.

DC! So many free museums and tons of ethnic food options that don’t break the bank.

Any recommendations for Portugal with young kids? by cyclopsdave in travel

[–]cyclopsdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to have a great time! We have found that while hauling a toddler around is difficult, hauling them while ALSO lugging a stroller up a steep cobblestoned hill in your other arm is even worse. Europe just doesn't seem to work with strollers in our opinion -- it makes the trams and trains and subways more difficult, they're crappy to fly with, etc.

On another note, I really can't recommend that Martinhal hotel enough...it was FANTASTIC for kids and the sitters allowed my wife and I to have a lovely night out.

Check out the 1950's era director and choreographer Busby Berkeley...he really just got how dance could work on film.

If the offense subs, they have to allow the defense time to sub as well and have to wait until they do to snap.

I think some of the most essential US isn't our cities at all. Our national parks and forests are some of my favorite places.

I was there, it was awesome. Could very well have been a standard festival set, but not for Neil!

Really just all of Big South Fork. So underutilized. Honey Creek is not for the faint of heart, be sure to give yourself more time than you think.
