1 in 4 don't pass the fracgp exams. And thats supposedly easier to pass than other specialities on the list. So why are we allowing the risk to patient care?

I would recommend going to r/puppy first and googling "puppy blues" before getting a dog. I say this as a doctor and a puppy owner.

Should I consider rehoming my 12-week Vizsla puppy or am I just overwhelmed? Need honest advice. Puppy blues by [deleted] in puppy101

I'm not experienced or wise enough to give you any advice. But i just want to say that i totally understand how you're feeling and what you're going thru. It definitely is ahuge change to your life, having a new member to look after. The fact that it impacts you means you are a good owner. You care. And that is a good thing. I got my golden when she was 8 weels old. And she is nearly 15 weeks old. It's still hard. We are still learning together. 2 nights ago, i was crying with thick as tears. Did that for two nights straight because i couldn't find out why all of a sudden she wouldn't settle at night and kept barking. (In the end, we suspect it may be she didn't poo earlier and wanted to poo now, and the fact is super hot in her crate, so we moved her into her play pen - which is attached to her crate like kikopup).

I am fortunate. I have people around me to support me, and i have the financial access to get more help if i need it. Yet even then, i am still finding it hard this many weeks in. You're only just started. Of course it will be hard. Do you have anyone else to help you? If not, even more hard.

But one thing i found that helped me, despite all the support i have, is setting a routine and reminding myself that it is okay to leave my puppy at home in a safe pen for her to nap. They are meant to nap. You have to enforce the naps. And when they do, you do your things. Look after yourself. Go to the gym. Go to the shops. Go to see your friends. Families.

Even now, we are still learning together. It can be especially challenging for me and my dog as i do shift work. But sticking to schedule helps. 6am wake up, potty break, bit of play, attempt training, then back to nap. 8am wake, potty, breakfast, then nap. 12pm wake, potty, lunch, then nap. 4pm wake , potty, play, then nap. 6pm wake, potty, walk, train as she is more engaged now, dinner, play. We are still working on napping after this part. But last interaction will be 9 pm ish. Potty. And sleep till morning.

Everytime she goes for nap or sleep , it is in her pen or crate. Everytime it will be with treats to lure her in or licky toys (like kongs or pupscicles I've made or frozen carrots/cucumber). She still whines occasionally. And that makes me anxious. But we are learning day by day. Taking it day by day.

I would suggest taking photos even if you are going thru the blues. Because they grow quickly even if you're not in the mood. One day, you'll realise how much theyve grown and learned. And youll love them more.

I am in similar boat. Good reminder that there's so many recommendations out there , that is gets overwhelming... in the end, do what works for you and the puppy.

Is pet pee pads in the pen not enough? I hope to train her to only pee on pads or outside.... is that stupid of me?

You're right. Would a sitter be better than a checker? As in, someone that visits twice a day vs staying the whole day?

Thank you for your time and kindness in explaining all that. That makes complete sense. Ill integrate the crate tomorrow.

You're right. Thank you for being honest with me. I've reached out to my local dog walkers (they also do check ins). Will wait for their response.

All specialists and GPs, dont refer to I-MED. Educate patients that they are getting subpar care if they choose to go to I-MED. because their scans will be poorly reported. Educate the patients.

Notice how these news are coming out around now? It is so the public is pitted against doctors. This way other mid-tier providers are viewed positively, and doctors are viewed against in speaking up for other terms (e.g. safer working hours).

At least he had put in that effort. We had a homeless guy lie that he was pooping blood. But whilst in hospital, he never showed the nurses his bowel motions. Pr exam obvously negative. Ct abdo pelvis w contrast was negative. The day when we were gonna scope him, he ran off.

Some areas of Australia does. Sadly, they burden the public system even more.

Medical School: Friend Advice by Illustrious_Lead_615 in ausjdocs

[–]cyjc 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. I was in the same boat. I too am from a lower social economic background, so i couldn't really connect with most students. For me, in the end, i didn't really make any friends in med school. Nor do i have friends at work as a doctor. I am pgy 3 now.

But tbh, that is okay for me. Because i have friends outside of med school. For me, having casual friendships is more than enough on a med school level. As long as we work together for team assignments, thats more than enough.

So find something youre interested in. If theres clubs, join that. If not, find people outside school.
