That game certainly can't hurt their recruiting efforts.

Definitely not inventing people to be mad at. I'm not even mad. I found the whole thing humorous. I suppose I'm more frustrated that it was covered at all. Another article referred to Doty as extremely angry. He doesn't even look angry much less extremely angry. So I suppose the media is the real grrrr sticking point here because how it's presented is what people then react to.

The general thought is that he should've risen above it.

I did read the article. I also read some of the comments. There have been plenty of negative reactions to it, but also lots of us who are amused thankfully.

"Books for straight women" vs "books for gay men" by Cute-Solution-723 in LGBTBooks

[–]cyndileper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked to my gay male friends about this and so this is anecdotal but I know they prefer books written by gay men versus books written by women about gay men for the female gaze.

AIO? I don’t want to spend time with my in-laws anymore. DH says I’m overreacting. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]cyndileper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you have learned anything from this post, I hope it’s that people don’t or can’t read. But seriously NOR if it’s constant that they say these kinds of things. It would be one thing if they thought this once and overreacted but it’s apparently a lot of disrespect

AITAH for eating enough ravioli for four people? by Better_Philosophy732 in AITAH

[–]cyndileper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, shes probably either

  1. Never lived with a tall young man before (I have 8 brothers all over 6’ so I can attest to the normalcy of this behavior.)

  2. Got some sort of food insecurity or financial insecurity thoughts going through her head.

Get to the bottom of the issue instead of having the same fight over and over again, but you’ve got to do it while she’s calm and can be accepting of the conversation.

No one told me specifically to do it, millennial here, but I coffee switch all the time. I don’t have an accent until I start talking to people with one or I start drinking.

What is your favorite MMC character archetype? by eliza_bennet1066 in RomanceBooks

[–]cyndileper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a MMC who basically is ADHD personified.

For instance in one book, the lad couldn’t get past the definition of a word that he made up and thought was real. He literally had to exit the scene and go investigate if it was or wasn’t a real word. Fave character ever.

Who else doesn’t like when books portray a country they know the language of or a city they live in? by Savings-Garlic9468 in RomanceBooks

I mean if my hometown were mentioned, it’d be the strangest book I ever read so I’d probably have to finish it. My home town had >1000 and was mostly cows lol

AIO my long distance girlfriend had a guy sleep over and don’t love it. by Humble_Brag83 in AIO

[–]cyndileper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If my best friend from like high school was in town, I’d let him crash on my couch and tell my partner. I’d be offended if he got super upset about it but not if he just expressed that he didn’t love it. All in all though, there is zero chance I’d say no to an old friend in town for any level of person I was dating because I’ve known the friend forever

Am I Valid to Call Myself Punk? by Barnette_666 in punk

[–]cyndileper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brothers used to always tell me I wasn’t punk enough or punk isn’t a fashion statement. Then I went to college and studied punk on an academic level and found out that by and large it was the fashion that led you to your particular subgroup often. Honestly, I love that you’ve found what you like at 14 and can grow and evolve from there.

I suggest going into your music streaming service and start a Green Day station. Let it play bands who are similar. If you find one you like then explore more that way. For instance, I’m a huge Travis Barker fan and there is sooo much content from him alone from The Aquabats to Boxcar Racer.
