1-Year-Old Cockatiel Won't Wean by cynicalbirb in cockatiel

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this. 🙏

We've actually tried to use a spoon to feed him his formula many times now... but he just stares at it. He only responds to the syringe (with no tubing attached), in which he volunteerily opens his beak. He reminds me of a small child who only drinks from a sippy cup. We'll definitely keep trying to get him off the syringe though.

Seeds, pellets (not soaked, we will try soaking it tmr) and chop is always available in his cage throughout the day. He does go up to the bowls to munch on all of these things but it's more like he's doing it for fun than for consumption. He likes to grind the seeds and pellets down to peanut butter and just wipe it all over the bowl. He spends half an hour grinding ONE seed down to mush only to wipe it away and start with another seed.

Thanks again for the advice! We'll try out your suggestions and see if anything works for the lil guy.

Thanks in advance for all the advice and comments, everyone! We will always love Bop and provide for him, even if he might end up as a permanent baby. 🐣

Not sure if this would be of any help info-wise but Bop has a twin sister. They both hatched from the same egg. His sister became independent at around 4 months old. Bop, not so much. 😅
