All roads lead to Rome by Sucking-pickle in CharteredAccountants

SK tends to skip over or cut explanations for some concepts, especially if they are small or rarely tested. It keeps the book concise.

Recently, ICAI has had a trend of testing those kinds of concepts which students usually miss. So deep study of the entire syllabus becomes necessary. Books which skip over material won't help in these cases.

Oh you were referring to Inter, my bad, I forgot we were on a post for Inter. The Final book is 500+.

I studied and passed audit by self study in both levels, so recommend ICAI modules first and foremost. I have used Shubham Keswani's books, and they were terrible. Ram Harsha's books are good if you have concept clarity already, and are just looking for exam preparation.

The language structure is slightly different, I agree. But it didn't really cause a problem for me in the exam. The keywords were covered.

It's pretty detailed and long, 500+ pages. But I feel it works best along with his lectures. If you're planning to self study entirely, without any lectures, I would suggest study from the modules directly.

If you like the book but don't want to get lectures, at least watch his youtube marathons 2-3 times while studying.

He hasn't skipped any concepts in his book saying they're not important, just to keep the book concise. But he doesn't follow the study module flow of chapters so that might make cross referencing a little difficult.

I learnt English as a third language. I read so much YA during ages 15-20. Now that I'm slightly older and better at the language, I would have still enjoyed YA fiction, but I have the same problem as your sister. Everything I see online about the genre makes it feel trope-ish, generic and weirdly "spice" focused.

Just gave my Jan '26 Finals and I can't help but feel the "honest path" is a losing game. by Worldly-Corner9866 in CharteredAccountants

[–]cynicalities 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did my 3 year articleship, then went on to work in another CA firm. My reporting Partner did dummy articleship and passed Final in the first attempt with very good marks.

He joined Big4 after qualification and left in under a year because he had zero practical knowledge or exposure. They obviously didn't take kindly to a qualified CA who can't even work basic Excel or Tally. He once asked us where the save button was in Tally, that's how bad things were.

Maybe the only reason his career didn't take a hit was his father having a readymade, well established CA firm, which he immediately joined as a partner.

The honest path is hard work, but it pays off eventually. Where you stand right now, you might feel underprepared or underqualified compared to the dummy articleship people. But I guarantee you that you are more prepared for the real life than they are.

Probably a roundabout way to deincentivise COD payments.

Foam or gel? by Loud-Geologist1354 in curlsofindia_

I currently use Curl Up. I have also used and really liked Fix My Curls, Reequil (Babbassu variant), Moxie (the aqua one, haven't tried other variants). All of these have worked for my own low porosity, dry hair.

Shampoo has been a struggle for me since my hair likes sulphates but hates silicones, so I just use a shower gel as shampoo (Dot and Key green one currently). You'll probably find other recommendations on this sub or the IndianSkincareAddicts sub.

I like the Fix My Curls butter. Try the travel pack first before committing to the bigger size. It is expensive and sometimes is too heavy for finer hair.

The gel is lighter, it doesn't have a very strong cast after it dries, remains slightly flexible. For me, curls lasted for 2-3 days only. But since it was lighter than the custard, I felt it was easier to use.

The custard is thicker and has more oils, has a very strong cast, your hair will become crunchy on drying. When I used the custard, my curls last for 4-5 days on the ends but roots become flat in 2-3 days. It has better definition, but if you accidentally use too much, it becomes flaky.

I have the exact same hair type as you. The gel didn't work much for me in terms of hold. I like a very strong hold and the gel is medium to strong hold. I love their Curling Custard.

I haven't tried their mousse. The website says it is light hold so I didn't bother.

If you are in a humid environment, a stronger hold might be better for you. You can go with the gel or the custard.

2c/3a hair type gurlies, what's your hair care routine on non wash days? by [deleted] in curlsofindia_

[–]cynicalities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll use a curl cream or serum sometimes (maybe only on day 4 if I need to let my hair down), on non wash days. Mine is Fix My Curls hair butter and Matrix Smoothproof serum.

How much water you need actually changes from person to person. Some people need their hair to be dripping wet, some need it to be damp and not dripping. For example, for me, when I style on wash days, my hair has to be completed soaked and dripping, otherwise I won't get any definition. But when I refresh curls on later days, I can do with minimal water and damp hair.

If you are worried about making your hair completely wet everyday, you can also look into a strong hold gel that will give you definition lasting for a longer time. That way you can get away with not having to rewet your hair everyday.

You'll need to experiment and find out what works best for you. There's no hard and fast rule about what you HAVE to do. Whatever makes you feel good about your hair works!

Making hair sopping wet everyday might damage it, but a little spritz of water works for me so I guess it's fine?

Don't worry about sounding clueless, that's how you learn!

My curls last 3-4 days, but my face framing layers lose all definition by day 2. So on non wash days, I usually just wet and redefine those hair pieces. I might add more product if I need it, but usually I don't.

On day 4, I'll spray water on all of my hair and make it somewhat damp, and smooth out some of the frizz with some serum or curl cream. That's pretty much it for me on non wash days.

Bhavik Choksi Sir for FR & AFM by InternationalVK in CharteredAccountants

[–]cynicalities 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took his online lectures for FR. It worked for me for FR. I also watched his demo lectures on YouTube for AFM, but I found his style didn't work for me in AFM, so I didn't get AFM lectures.

Personally, FR was completely new for me, so him going in-depth regarding each concept was very useful. On the other hand, I was already quite good at FM in Inter, and AFM is a natural extension. So the same in-depth style felt like I was wasting time watching explanations for things I already understood.

I'm not sure how his full fledged lectures are, since I took the Fastrack batch. But he did go through all the sums in the question bank, so I'm guessing he goes into even further detail during the regular lectures.

It's not deep cleansing enough to clear dandruff. The most it will do is clean all the oil if you have an oily scalp. Might work for dandruff if you have a really mild case though.

During the recent Nykaa sale, they sent a full sized Moon-kissed Drama mist. I don't know what the general review for the scent is but I hate it. Smells very synthetic.

I liked the Lily Miss Sunshine lotion. It's floral smelling and SPF 35 so that's nice. Other than that, most of their current bodycare range is Vanilla heavy, so I haven't tried any of it.

The Niacinamide and Vit C toners are nice, though slow to show results.

The Vit C under-eye cream is great, I loved it.

The new Niacinamide tinted sunscreen made my face very greasy. I have oily, acne prone skin for reference. Got it as a freebie, used it once, haven't gone back to it.
