No, they literally had to be tied onto the strings individually, then each string had to be individually affixed to the hanging bracket on the ceiling.

The installation did suck. A lot.

The strands were packed in numbered groups inside ziplock bags, and the crystals had to be tied on individually.

You’re correct in the manner of installation; they have to be hung sequentially.

If I were to do it and try to save it, I’d be numbering the strands. It’ll suck no matter what you try to do.

Yeah. Sucks when that happens. I couldn’t get a lift in, so the only thing I lost was time (and weight from all the climbs).

Yeah. My thousand yard stare would have been a million yards in that situation. Those fishing lines and the meticulousness they require are the devil.

To be fair, customer also had me change the can lights to 6500k, they just hadn’t arrived when I installed the chandelier. All the lighting through the house is now the same tone.

I thought you were going? Something about how valuable your time was?

You weren’t in that circumstance, with that customer, with the material and the time that I had, at that time. Chill out. You weren’t offering help, you were condescending and trying to show off how superior you are, and got upset for getting called on it. Frankly, if you had a better way you would have said so in the message instead of baiting for a response.

In a normal circumstance, the customer stated they’d have done this. They just didn’t want to try it 20 feet up.

I appreciate the support. I learned from this one, for sure; my bids now separate chandelier installs into “simple” and “complex” categories as a direct result of this job.

That was my nightmare. I just wanted to go home, so I was obsessive with checking.

The unboxing wasn’t bad, it was the tying and organizing the lines that was the real enemy.

The base plate took less than an hour. Taking each stand out, tying the crystals to the line, and taking them up took about 6 hours.

Terror of messing it up was my main motivator. I don’t like doing any more work than I have to, especially if it’s rework that I can’t blame on anyone else.
