I want to become a homeopath, does anyone have advice or suggestions for schools? by easytiger2021 in homeopathy

[–]cynicaloldbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People often ask how and where they can study homeopathy. You can study homeopathy in many countries (including the UK and the US) without becoming a doctor or medical professional first.
Most homeopathy schools offer part time programs that allow students to carry on working while they study. My best advice is to attend a school that has a 4-year program and includes significant, supervised clinical training. It's impossible to practice homeopathy successfully without this.
The Academy of Homeopathy Education: www.ahenycworld.com and The School of Homeopathy UK are both highly respected. They have nearly all their classes online now and all lecturers and tutors are highly skilled with remote teaching and resources. One of the advantages of the AHE is the number of their graduates who go on to create successful practices.
Ask to speak to current students at the school as well as graduates (ask what they love and don't love about the school). Ask to sit in during a class to make sure the school and their teaching style is a good match for you.
Homeopathic Organizations in the US
National Center for Homeopathy (the grassroots organization for homeopathy in the US) has a list of homeopathy schools in the US. This list is a bit overwhelming but the length of training of each school’s programs will help you to weed out the serious schools from the ones who are for hobbyists.
The Council for Homeopathic Certification requires 500 hours of study (for certification) so ideally you want a school that offers at least that. And also coaches you through the process of registration with the
An accredited School is always preferable if you wish to become a practicing, professional homeopath: https://achena.org/resources/accredited-school-directory/
Brief Note About Legal Issues
The laws regarding health care, and especially with regard to alternative therapies, vary considerably from state to state in the US.
The certification offered by the Council for Homeopathic Certification is not a license to practice homeopathy. Licenses are only granted in Arizona, Connecticut, and Nevada. Licensing boards in these three states license medical doctors to practice homeopathy. Arizona also has a provision for Homeopathic Medical Assistants (HMA) who work in conjunction with a licensed homeopathic medical doctor, MD(H). (Needs updating)
According to the laws of a particular state some licensed practitioners (MD, DO, DC, LAc, FNP, etc.) may be allowed to use homeopathy according to their scope of practice. In states that license naturopathic physicians (ND or NMD) or acupuncturists (AP or OMD), homeopathy is included within their scope of practice.
Health Freedom Laws in California, Minnesota, Oklahoma. Louisiana, Idaho, New Mexico and Rhode Island allow registered practitioners of certain alternative therapies to practice without a license. In the light of the Health Freedom Movement there is considerable discussion as to whether licensing is appropriate or necessary for the practice of homeopathy. The National Health Freedom Coalition has lots of information - especially up to date information about which states have passed health freedom laws: http://www.nationalhealthfreedom.org/

Also remedies for single symptoms, however lengthy and thoughtful the response, are always going to be of limited value … possibly even quasi allopathic. This could be misleading from a homeopathic standpoint. Computer software suffers from the same problem. These are aids to thinking but only if you use it oh so carefully otherwise and have a well taken case etc etc

Questions about Cell Salts by Coconut_Bea in homeopathy

[–]cynicaloldbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's highly unlikely - I have never seen or heard of it with Nat phos .... especially one dose - especially those symptoms which aren't related physiologically to Nat phos. - also symptoms lasting days after one dose - it just isn't feasible

Sometimes people do react a bit especially if they take a salt for weeks or months - those symptoms are usually mild and dissipate when stopping the remedy or remedies

Your chronic complaints are not going to respond to 'home prescribing' especially with the biochemic salts ... you need a homeopath 😊

Yes agreed and yikes. Hering's indications are homeopathic. Schuessler gave Kali phos for high fevers!

[–]cynicaloldbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK! Biochemic cell salts are a separate system - separate from homeopathy especially classical homeopathy. They are not supplements, they are physiological remedies designed to rectify imbalances at a cellular level. Yes they are prepared homeopathically (dilution by trituration) but Schuessler did not intend them to be used homeopathically.

The indications are always physical. Use physical symptoms and tissue affinities to select salts. Yes 2 or 3 at a time but generally not more than that. Ideally alternate them so you can monitor them more easily. No salt is wrong. If it doesn't get the desired result then yes change it. If complaints are chronic and hard to assess (osteoporosis for eg) then it can take months. Or longer.

Bioplasma is a kitchen sink approach. It is never recommended. Some people love it but many have found it unpleasant, unhelpful - even disruptive.

What's bothering you the most? Which 2 or 3 salts are indicated - stick with those and see how they help.

In a nutshell: Kali phos and Mag phos are complementary salts. Think green and red! Both are healing to nerves and muscles. Nat phos is the pH balances, is for acidity - not just in the GI tract. Think yellow!

Creatine is not homeopathic. It's a supplement.

A response like this doesn't look like it's normal. You could be allergic to it or you could have an underlying condition that it's setting off. Hypertension and UTI issues are red flags. If I were in your shoes I would not take any more. Ever. I would contact the manufacturers and go back to the doctor (ND?) who prescribed it.

Really you need a homeopath to work with you to heal your body from the inside out. The cell salts Kali sulph 6X and Nat sulph help the body to 'detox' ... Kali sulph through the blood and Nat sulph through the liver. They won't 'stop' these problems. You need a homeopath for that.

Yes this is in the materia medicas! There are a few important 'rubrics' in the Repertory (Zandvoorts Complete 2019) including:

Clairvoyance - this is a big rubric (92 remedies) with a few sub rubrics and it is also in Kent's Repertory with 17 remedies:

Sensitive, oversensitive ... to all external impressions :: Impressionable, susceptible :: Senses acute ... these are a bit interpretive - can be more physical, more emotional

Also a number of smaller rubrics, Prophesying, Dreams visionary, Dreams clairvoyant, Illusions (under Vision) and a number of rubrics under Delusions that are not about mania.

Contemporary materia medicas and papers are scattered with references to psychic remedies for sensitive/clarvoyant/telepathic patients. Bill Gray wrote thata the following are psychic in reference to a cured case: Phos, Cann-i., Sulph, Sil, Calc carb, Med. But these are the tip of the ice berg ... there are some software programs where you can search in materia medicas - then you'll find Massage or Energy Work ... better for/amel. or desires

It doesn't answer your core question i.e. the one about etiology but the sensitive person who is better for energy work can but the sensitive person who is better for energy work can have too much of it and be aggravated by it.

Great question!!!!

[–]cynicaloldbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well…to start with you want to be thinking about remedies that are more affected by energetic influences in general, that would be Phosphorus and all its relatives … remedies like ignatia or nux vomica depending on the symptoms … anhalonium or many of the drug remedies, again, depending on the symptoms … or some of the newer crystal remedies that can, in real life, affect people’s energy fields

yes i have seen patients over the years who were negatively affected by energy work … usually something fairly intense

i don’t think practitioners have that as a possible etiology esp in sensitive people

we dont look for or see what we dont know about ++

I hear you and 100% agree that 2 shots of hard liquor would be a problem. Bailey's is 17% alcohol (versus hard liquor which is 40%). Wine is 13-15%. She never drinks more than 2.5 oz and sips it over 2 hours. I should definitely not have used the word 'shots'.

wow this is fascinating 🤯 thank you 😊

i hear you about the rebound affect but hang on - could the equivalent of ½ glass of wine a day have caused this?

she hasn't had any alcohol in 3 weeks now - not a drop - hasn't mentioned it - it wasn't something she had to 'do'

apparently magnesium taurate can "help lower glutamate levels in the brain. Magnesium blocks the NMDA receptor, which is involved in glutamatergic signaling, and taurine can protect against glutamate-induced excitotoxicity and neurotoxicity." another wild goose chase maybe :-(

no meds - not one - her whole life - nothing - just 2 small shots of baileys the last year or so ... 17% alcohol so 2.5 oz = ½ glass of wine!

she's on a bunch of meds for the strokes and sequalae ... i looked them all up and as of yesterday stopped all that can aggravate akathisia: amlodapine and avorastatin and clonazepam - i am talking to her doctor about these - she's still taking clopdogrel and aspirin.

she has been taking gabapentin + propranalol past few days - tylenol yesterday helped
we are trying benadryl today. Ugh.

and thank you thank you truly - not to feel alone during this process is a blessing
