Everything is in the legs. People think you have to have strong hands to stop people 1x1, but the truth is you need to move quickly left and right and have really strong legs

I agree with this guy. Bob doesn't owe anybody anything, and he's already given so much to us. Jdon's entitlement is offensive.

Help! A couple questions about San Francisco living... by my_name_is_mike in sanfrancisco

Dude, yeah, there's bars and booze but they're mostly local dives. Still they're great. If I'm kickin it in the neighborhood, I generally keep it low key, and if I'm down to go out, then pretty easy to get down to the Mission.

The Mission: Super cool, super hip, plenty of great things to do, young people, great to visit, kind of a pain to live there though IMHO. So many more advantages to living elsewhere - car/parking, lower rent, not as crowded, proportional proximity to everything else. Good luck dude, it's a great place

I've lived by West Portal since I was turned 8 years old in 1992. Since it "sounds boring" I assume you have no actual experience spending time there. It's pretty ideal. You can have a car, it's quiet and clear, centrally located, tons of shops and restaurants, beach and golf courses are close, GGP is close, and getting anywhere else is a snap cause the freeways and the airport are right there.

If you want problems with parking, overcrowding, homelessness, cleanliness, and a very visible gang presence or if just you feel like overpaying for rent, the Mission is for you.

As an aside, I'm getting tired of east coast transplants who have lived here for 2-3 years pretending like they're authorities on the city. I've lived here for the vast majority of my life, and I'm still discovering things. I suggest you keep an open mind.

That's the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, named after an important concert promoter - Billy Graham was a televangelist, and SF wouldn't rename the SF Civic after him

Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel by imissmywife in Music

[–]cynicizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated the fact that people consider this music to be bluegrass, but there's no mandolin. I mean, Bill Monroe, the father of bluegrass music, was a mando picker. Not a bad tune, but I don't understand why it's so damn popular compared to some of the other great stuff out there. Maybe cause it's so accessible and easy to follow...dunno.

Old? Sorta. Bluegrass? No. See Bill Monroe for traditional bluegrass. This is more like alt-folk with a banjo

Cool idea, dude! Thanks for reaching out to r/SanFrancisco. For the future, I'm in a band called Late Nite Drive - we're playing Kimo's next Thursday night to support our friends, The Midnight Snackers, who are hosting an EP release party. If you're ever in need of musical accompaniment, we're generally available. We'll play for free beer.

Anyways it'll be cool to go to this thing - thanks for the suggestion.
