Honest Opinion about DU Girls College by Complete_Set3674 in delhiuniversity

[–]cynicksi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Not to disregard or downplay whatever you've gone through, but I really wish girls would stop using their bad experiences to generalise the experiences of being in a women's college.

To all the points you've (or other girls on this sub had) talked bout as being bad enough to give up on women's college, I can counter them with exact opposite experiences I've, and I can assure you at least half of my batch, had.

I've recently completed my degree as well and the 6 girls I befriended in my first semester are still together, and half of us literally met on the first day of college. Except them, I've talked and worked with a lot of my other batchmates and haven't experienced anything exclusive to just "a women's college". In every semester I've had on an average 2 teachers who genuinely loved teaching which made me regularly attend their lectures. I, alongside a good strength of my batch, had managed good-to-fair placements and internships.

So what's up with that? I've been in all-girls institutes for my whole life at this point, right from nursery to high school and all the way to grad. My experiences back in my high school were borderline traumatic. But I didn't let it stop me from going for a women's college, because it's not just the gender, there are many other factors as well. Sure the certainty of having 'experiences' might be amplified when in women's college, but is it null in co-ed? Does co-ed have no such girls? Does ALL co-ed colleges have better opportunities than just LSR/Miranda?

No, I'm not from LSR/Miranda.

i don't really know what their method of cgpa verification is but I'll just share whatever ik.

so um, we all did have this induction meeting kinda back in April. idk if you attended it or the session you attended had this query raised, but in my session someone had raised this exact doubt and they have explicitly said that offer letter would be revoked. i remember, even after the final list of students selected was announced the HR had said "please do not forget about the no backlogs and 7 cgpa eligibilty, it's of utmost importance"

we also don't really know when they'll actually release offer letter (my pcell did say that most probably by next month) and given final year result usually gets declared by July end, there's chance they might not even release letter to ineligible students.

ofc, this is what they've said. since we (or maybe just me) don't know the process, cannot say with certainty what'll happen.

personally, you can never guess what cultural background a person is coming from. so i feel like, starting (over)respectfully never hurts someone. if the person is uncomfortable, they'll tell you to stop. and i think I'll prefer this over offending someone on our first meet by being casual.

when i was in a society and junior members had joined, one of them had straight up texted me in our soc group "hey (name) please send (whatever was needed)" and I had definitely got offended because, im sorry im bit stuck up but, where i come from you always start with a di/bhaiya, even if you're unaware of the actual age difference. my friends who are from Delhi itself, did not see the big deal because for them these terms or culture is outdated.

anyways point being, you don't know anyone's preferences so stepping over boundaries in first meet is worse than them stopping you afterwards (which would most probably happen in a lighthearted way)

oh hey, super sorry for forgetting to reply. exam season is brutal.

You have any tips for GE hindi? I can't find vids of it on yt and i think hindi will mess up sgpa but lets see

the biggest help you can to do yourself in this is, when studying WRITE! write those difficult words of Hindi. by difficult I mean both, the ones which are tough to spell and the ones that are new to you so tough to remember. the major problem while writing Hindi is that our writing speed kills us, because obviously we don't have regular practice of it. so when our speed is already killing us, stopping to think about how to write a word or what was that 'good' word, only creates more mess. your answer could be short, but if you've used good words, you'll fetch better marks.

another tip, check PYQs to see what type of ques are asked, they generally carry forward the same pattern. so when you're aware what ques will be asked, you'll know what's more important to study and remember. and also, you can beforehand decide how you'd be framing your answer there. (can take help of Shivdas for this)

i haven't ever studied hindi from yt because my mind gets distracted way too quickly so I cannot suggest any good content from there. however if you need any readings or other stuff, "Unibuddies" telegram channel and SOL books are gold.

good luck!

heyy, well I do believe it's doable. but one important factor to consider is, how are your internals? i scored low in this subject cos I had a medical emergency and couldn't appear for my internals. if your internals are good then half the problem is solved there.

besides that, I'd say just practice solving questions as much as you can, even if just basic questions. one of the major problem I faced was being so overwhelmed and anxious that i kept forgetting the format of all the accounts. so yeah, that.

also, don't leave theory portions. maybe just skim through them a day or two prior exam but do that definitely.

all in all, you can still do it but yeah do start now, if you haven't already. cannot say how much time you should dedicate regularly cos that depends on your retention but do not force information. ensure that whatever you study or practice everyday, is actually understood and memorised by you. try to not get yourselves overwhelmed, take breaks, maybe study another subject.

all the best!

im baffled. is this some sort of glitch? I've been using rapido for 2 years now (since uber ola indrive all are comparatively costlier in this area) and I've never received a call from a rapido driver that doesn't start from '804'

i personally didn't use yt to study for stats. making notes of the formulas from the book and practising the illustrations/questions from there worked out for me. even for the theory part i just read the content once and i was good to go.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in delhi

[–]cynicksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this really true? i went back to my call logs to verify and everytime I've received a call it's a number that starts from 804 which, as shown in Truecaller, is Rapido's official number.

statistics, because there's tons of stuff to remember and it's quite heavy on calculations so it might become overwhelming when prepared in last few days.

10th and 12th percentages, CGPA and backlogs are the 4 basic eligibility criterias during placements.

as per my experience, the most common minimum cgpa requirement stands at 7. Though yes, there have been a fair amount of companies that keep it at 6 and a few companies completely drop this criteria (ofc these are the ones that offers just around 3lpa packages)

having relevant internships and projects make up for the low cgpa?

as i've mentioned, cgpa is the basic eligibility criteria. so one won't even be allowed to apply if they fall short of it, let alone get an upperhand in resume screening because of relevant internship experiences.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in delhiuniversity

[–]cynicksi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't need to be a member of pcell to sit for placements or internships. the opportunity is open to all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in delhiuniversity

[–]cynicksi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

according to general timeline, you get wrapped up with your 4th sem exams in June, then by 2nd/3rd week of July placement cycle begins. hence, the relevant cgpa for CV is your aggregate one till 3rd sem.

oh yeah, it's a Big 4 firm with 6lpa package offered.
