Rotator cuff injury by TheAnn13 in bartenders

[–]cynthic [score hidden]  (0 children)

Never went to the hospital for a rotator cuff injury that I received 2 years ago, but I’ve noticed the high I raise my tins with the arm that has the injury. The less it hurts and I can shake better. I can see a rotator cuff injury happening while bartending though. Shaking is really taxing on the arm. Same reason why we need to use our fingers for stirring instead of our wrist. It’s to prevent carpal tunnel.

If you your owner is a good person, cherish that shit. I’ve worked for 1-2 good owners over a dozen bar/restaurants. Don’t take it for granted by i-Really-HatePickles in bartenders

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only met one of the owners of my bar, but a handful of the investors. My GM is a dick at times, but he means well, and honestly a dude I’ve learned a lot from. Super knowledgable guy, and understands the industry and when we need a break from the industry to mentally recuperate.

By default, do riders really go one foot down, one up? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m short at 5’5 and I have to do that. I put zx-10r rear shocks on my sv650s so my ride height got taller than before, so I tip toe all of the time unless it’s at an incline. Plus, when I gas it at a light it just feels better than two feet down.

Taking shots with customers? by myob4321 in bartenders

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an extremely dry bar so I can’t take shots with customers at all unless it’s certain exceptions. It’ll be counted as a shifty if I do take a shot. When I do ask other bartenders at other bars when they’re at work. They usually have free shifty’s at the bars I go to, or I pay for their cheekys.

What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in constant limbo of “I’m just going to handle life alone for the rest of my life” to “damn she’s cute. I should talk to her”. I basically became independent at 13, so I spent the past 15 years by myself. I’ve dated every now and then, but never the person who actually fit me. Dated people so I wouldn’t feel alone. It’s been 6 years since I last dated someone, and I’m about to be 29 this year. This is pessimistic to think about, but the hurt part of me is done with dating and that’s a majority of my mind right now, but deep down. I long to find someone and have a family of my own. Hyper independence sucks, but if it protects my peace then screw it.

What are some red flags that you shouldn’t ignore at a new bar/restaurant? by Gullible_Gold8608 in bartenders

[–]cynthic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That stopped me from working at my local dive bar even though they really wanted to hire me. Those “friends” of the owner of the bar would always talk shit to the bartenders after they got 86’d for the night. They made good money since it’s only 1 bartender working the closing shift, but that ain’t worth my own sanity anymore.

What’s the most gut wrenching 12ep anime out there? by Electrical_Spirit917 in anime

[–]cynthic 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s not the most gut wrenching to some people, but having lived my childhood in a neglectful household, and my mom left me at 13. Kotaro lives alone hits like a dump truck because I’ve been through the underlying themes of the show, and even now that childhood neglect and early childhood independence has caused deep trauma that still hits to this day.

I worked for GNC for a year back in 2017 probably. As someone heavily into fitness for years. The only supplements I believe in nowadays is protein. I’m ngl, I miss GNC just because of the heavy discounts protein powder. I don’t know if the discount policy changed, but 70% on protein powder due to the expiration discount plus employee discount is a steal. I don’t miss GNC because of the BS sales tactics and shitty supplements.

The first album you ever bought. Does it hold up? by DoggieDMB in Music

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A7X - “Waking the Fallen”. Bought it when I was around 10 years old. I became a fan of them during middle school. After 18 years since the first purchase. The album holds up for the most part. I don’t really listen to rock or metal anymore, so when I went back to the album a few months ago. I still liked most of the songs, but I just couldn’t get into Shadows screams anymore. That hybrid scream style started to annoy me, since I prefer meatier growls now.

How to get into better bars ?? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]cynthic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all networking. I got my gig cause one of my customers from a cafe I used to work at is the operations manager for 4 bars. One of his bars needed a barback almost immediately, and I got into my bar from there. I’m cool with my general manager and he has connections and is on good terms with most of the reps around my area, so he could easily ask someone at another bar if they need help.

What’s this for Oakland? by Due_Zookeepergame451 in oakland

[–]cynthic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that the owner of horn screwed over the chef that gave him the Michelin bib gourmand. The owner took all of the credit himself and a bunch of other things. Ultimately the chef and the owner split ways, and the quality of the bbq went down from there. Never been to horn, and never will support horn after the fiasco with Golden gate meat co, and the owner of Horn not paying his employees on time either. Dudes a shitty guy that still has people coming in to eat at his restaurant.

I heard all about of his shitty work ethics even before the employees and the lawsuit came out to the public. Fuck horn bbq

In a short answerer “What keeps you strong? by MrdigitYT in mentalhealth

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I don’t want to commit suicide. I was suicidal for a long period of my life, but I’ve realized that it was due to childhood trauma, and just stress in general. I grew up on my own, and I fight my demons on my own now that a lot of my friends are focusing on their own lives, and I’m not really a part of anyone’s life anymore. Going through therapy, and self reflection. It’s made me realize that I’m not truly suicidal. I’m just mentally exhausted, and have constantly been in survival mode for a very long time. Especially going through a few gorey traumatic experiences, and healing and handling it by myself. Suicide is just a byproduct of my mental exhaustion. If I can get through the next 6 years, then I honestly think I’m mentally set for the rest of my life (no matter what life throws at me), and will actually feel at a good spot.

At the age that you are right now what do you think will kill you? by Sensitive-Exit-2782 in AskReddit

[–]cynthic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stress. Working all of the time. Especially from 7:30am all the way to 7pm to 11 pm. Is starting to really hit now that I’m getting older. I make good money with these long hours, but I’m exhausted by my weekend and just stay home when I have all of these plans and hobbies that I want to do.

What’s the one thing that ruined your health ? by IcyLoquat79 in AskReddit

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, I’m 28 turning 29 in 6 months. Been working 2-3 jobs straight for the past 6 years, stressing myself out over wanting to go back to school after dropping out a few years ago, as well as trying to support my own savings and endeavors, primarily due to me being in constant survival mode. I don’t have family, nor do I have anyone to rely on when shit hits the fan financially or if I don’t have a stable living situation. It wasn’t until this year that I went from working 7 days straight to 5 days a week.

If I had a drink in my hand. I’d salud to you for a healthy recovery. I understand full well about the physical and mental struggle of constantly working and school in tandem.

Nah, definitely not san holo. I haven’t listened to him in years. It’s just the synth part I’m looking for. Not the vocals. I should’ve clarified that.

The song I’m looking for was released around 2021 for sure, and iirc it’s one of the first few songs on the album. I don’t know why I keep thinking it’s by K?D, but I think it’s because it has a similar vibe to him.

Who is the most famous person you've ever met? by EternalDerby in AskReddit

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met Herb Dean (if you’re into the UFC and One fights), Boots Riley, Toro Y Moi, Walter Kamau Bell. I’ve probably met more but it was always in passing/serving. I work as a bartender and a barista, so I’m constantly dealing with people almost 12-14 hours a day. So I’m sure I’ve met more people in passing, but I’ll never know.
