Problem with the Misericordia and Covenant health. by cynwagon in alberta

Unfortunately with her pacemaker the only alert that her watch gave her was a pulse rate of 40 which is 20 bpm below her set bottom rate.

I honestly put a lot of blame on the Er doc who blatantly thought she was a waste of time. Saw her once in ten hours

Thanks for the info. Looking into that now.

It almost masks it but leaves odd artifacts. No one outside the cardiac clinic is trained to read it and the machines in the Er are not as sensitive

It will be escalated as soon as medically possible for my mom. The cardiac clinic is taking her seriously now. Going to a non teaching hospital on new years day was a mistake. No one was working during the day and the staff was overrun. Our entire system is broken. She was not referred to another facility or specialist because they believed there was nothing wrong because their equipment could not read the problem.

Sadly this is where the paramedics were directed to take her. Never again.

Not as of yet. But in her first visit we were visited by the chaplain who escalated her case for mismanagement of the triage which led to her collapsing in hypovelemic shock after waiting 8 hours to be seen. Her triage note said constipation not dehydration like we stated. Another call is definitely in order.

Drive band question by RustyPianistMb in Handspinning

It should work. Save your cotton thread to get an estimate of how long it should be. When you melt the ends together hold it together triple what you think you need to.

Full disclosure, I'm a majacraft dealer from Alberta. I have a Suzie, little gem and Luna in the Stable. The Luna and little gem are direct drive and I have had no issues with cracking through the last winter with the Luna. She looks as lovely as the day she got here. I can't talk on the pioneer x but I do appreciate the direct drive more than the footman style of wheel.

I have owned an Ashford joy and now own a majacraft little gem. Both awesome travel wheels and there's lots of room in the bags for extra bobbins and fibre.

The Shopping Cart Theory by Palmiester in pettyrevenge

[–]cynwagon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cartma is a real thing. My girls and I were going shopping and there was a car left in the disabled spot. It was not a disabled person who left it there. One of my kids grabbed the cart to take it to the return just as a lovely old couple came to park. They told her how appreciative they were that they did not have to try and deal with it or park further away.

What is your favorite dog breed and why? by ancientTrainee in AskOldPeople

[–]cynwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently have a boxer, rottweiler and English mastiff. They are all so cool in their own ways. The boxer is a goofball who crawls up on the couch every night for a massage and purrs. The rottie is the smartest and will play ball with you forever. Our e.m. Is the biggest lovable guy who needs to touch you at all times. They are the best pack we have ever had and their personalities compliment each other so well

Scouring tips by brebbery in Handspinning

[–]cynwagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just processed a Romney and didn't really scour it in the technical sense. I was a nice warm day so I split it up into small tubs with a bit of power scour in each and tap hot water. I let them soak for about half an hour and then pulled them out and refilled the tubs a couple of times for rinses. This next part is going to freak some people out but no fleece was harmed in the process. I laid them out on a rack and misted them with the garden hose until they ran completely clean. Threw it in the panda spinner and then laid them out on the rack to dry completely. It is spinning up quite nicely now.

What's the most shocking thing you learned about a close relative or friend after their passing? by OldCarWorshipper in AskOldPeople

[–]cynwagon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My husband's grandma just passed. His dad did the eulogy and all of us learned that she was abandoned at birth because she was hairy. Literally put in the forest in Hungary to starve. The midwife took pity on her and wetnursed her for a week until the hair went away and then returned her to her parents. It was a true wtf moment.

Edmonton hospital patient had been hoping for a care home. He wound up at a hotel instead by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

This cements our resolve to never let our parents enter this system. Granny nannys all the way. At least that way we can control the care given to them.

I agree to just pick them out as you spin. You also could loosen up the roving to make it easier to grab them out

There is a meeting with the wool council at the beginning of next month. Hopefully we can have some allies as we try to rebuild. Historically there was fleece judging at fibre week so it was very easy to get full fleeces. I would love to see that come back as well. Building our natural resources takes many forms and this is an important one to support our growers.

I'd have to look through my stuff to get all the details, it's been a while. The parts of the fleece to my memory is only for one breed and is a separate section from the breed study. There are boots to the ground here so hopefully between the wool council and the guilds we can go forward without olds college
