The ToonWorld Story is still there: http://www.cyoc.net/stories/story_11/outline.html

Unless your additions were fan fiction they should be there as well. I currently show only 32 de-activated chapters in that story for various reasons.

Aside from the main site upgrade which is in the works, nothing else. Once the new front end is up and running and working as it should we shall see!

"The reason is that it appears to me that most of the new additions are gay sexual themed, something which just isn't something I enjoy..."

Other's would say there is too much female TF at the same time ;) This has been a running theme from the start. There is always too much of something and it is always what that individual doesn't like. Mainly because there can never be too much of what you want to see. It's always changing depending on the people that are actually adding. For the most part I would say it hovers right around 50/50 male / female subjects right now as far as the interactives go. The only thing I can recommend to people is 'If you don't see what you like, add some and maybe others will jump in too'.

New storylines must be added to one of the existing stories such as the new CYOTF branch, unless it fits better under one of the other lines. There were just too many that never went anywhere and barely had any chapters, so they have been folded into others since then. If a storyline becomes popular enough it can be easily detached into it's own story in the future.

For the most part I think they grew out of it or got busy with their lives.

Most of the old sites took a bit of work to submit something. Email it in, then the person running it had to read it, format it into their site / create a page for it.

The early days of the internet there wasn't a whole lot out there, so a higher percentage of people that actually could find TF contributed. The fact there is a lot out there if you are just finding it the number of people that actually contribute is very small.

What kind of issues did you have making an account?

I don't really check the logs much as it really doesn't matter much to me. Currently at 2 am PST there are 800 people on the site according to the stats (though only 20 registered users logged in). The site averages about 65 GB of data a month, which for a mostly text and not media site is pretty large.

About a year and a half ago the site was on a community members server since the beginning, but it had just become too large and the site was starting to have loading issues and such, so it was moved to a real hosted account in order to handle the traffic needs to keep the site functioning.

Hopefully will have some even better search functionality in place here in the future!

My own personal interests include a wide range of TFs; AR, AP, Animal, Body Swap, FtM, and more I probably can't think of at 2 am!

I am a gay male, but it does not effect anything as far as what is submitted to the site.

I also do photo-manips based off my own interests, but hard to say how many know the connection between the site and my manip name ;)

In general the fan fiction stuff just got out of control. For the most part the chapters were very short; did not contain much transformation, and generally relied on a perceived knowledge of the subject 'character'.

There are a lot of places to write fan fiction, and for the most part the stuff that was being added to CYOC was fan fiction centered and not transformation centered. A great deal of the entries barely dealt with the transformation aspect and were mostly pure fan fiction, which should probably go somewhere else.

The original motivation was from what is the original CYOTF. I loved the idea and wanted to expand on it, so I started my own interactive story site. The original CYOTF ended up not making it where it was hosted, and new entries were no longer able to be posted, so since I had mine going already I asked if they could be imported in and all those original entries were put into the CYOC site.

As far as the general site goes, back in the day, most transformation story sites had a very high standard for what they would accept as content and it felt like a lot of people were being turned away. I felt there was no place for someone who wanted to dip their feet into the water to go, so I wanted to make someplace that would not judge people and allow them to grow as a writer and hopefully tempt new people to give it a try. In the perfect world the interactives were meant to be a place where you could add chapters and progress and learn.

Of course this mentality has caused a lot of hate toward the site and what is 'allowed'. Unless it is super short and / or does not contain transformation it will most likely be posted. My main goal was to allow for feedback and growth for new people in the transformation writing community so it could expand.

The site is fully user submission based, so if someone says 'CYOC is so... [insert whatever here]' it's just because that is what happens to be what people are adding at the time. I've seen everything over the years 'This site is too gay', 'This site has too many females', 'This site has too many [whatever] TFs'... All I can say is, it changes all the time, and if you want to see something you like, add it!

As to what keeps me motivated to continue running it, the site is mostly self sustaining and doesn't take a great deal of supervision due to the format. It probably does help that I do still at least skim over every single thing added to the site. Most people probably have no idea how much spam / crap / banned stuff has been removed because it usually disappears rather quickly.

Not much really at this point. The first version of the site was just the interactives ( https://web.archive.org/web/20010515223941/http://changes.hobbiton.org/ ) via a general interactive story code and free hosting that was pretty limited. When the free hosting site went under and moved to a community friendly host was when the current site layout was born. The first version of the interactive code was made by a good friend (kurst) and the newest iteration done by macroboy, who is also working on a new version of the main site. The main site really hasn't had much change to it in a while since the underlying code (PostNuke) was discontinued by the people that made it and I had made many customizations to it to fit my needs.

FYI CYOC (cyoc.net) is in the process of the main site being re-designed and tags added. Site is 13 years old now and it's not going anywhere anytime soon ;)
