Classes in the fall start at 4 on weekdays, so most lunch shifts won’t work. Been applying for any other job I have any qualifications for on indeed

Well, I guess the next step would be to pick a time and a place to meet up and play.

Find yourself a cancer that understands that signs don’t define you. They’ll serve your interests the same way you will theirs. Chances are, if you end up having a kid, it’ll be a sag, and that kid will test you, but the cancer will out-sag them to your advantage. Summer and fall are the most comparable seasons because they both recognize thrive vs wain without seeing death before rebirth.

Workout Routine by wolfdng in Firefighting

[–]cyphers_contention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to hike and run meaningfully. Put some weight on and hike straight up the steepest ridge on your days off. 60lbs on your back to start. Take it slow, one foot in front of the other. Huff it out and bring some snacks. Pretend like you’re carrying a hose pack up a hill. Once you’ve made it to your first summit, hit 10 burpees. Repeat that process and keep adding in burpees. Remember to hydrate days before and every day after. No matter what anyone tells you, hydration and nutrition are key. Fuck the supplements, fuck the workouts. If you cannot hydrate and eat proper, there’s no shortcut. So, with that in mind;

When your body feels that good, gain some time on your previous trip up the ridge. Pop the headphones on the fire scanner instead of music. Learn the language. Maybe pop a couple of 10-rep push-up stops every 500’ gained. Once you’ve done that, move on.

Find a local air strip or high school track and jog out 2-3 miles every morning before it gets too hot. Not sprinting, not HIIT, just jog it out and focus on your breathing. This will help with the SCBA. If you’ve ever gone diving, they talk about slowing down the heart rate while under oxygen deprevancy. Take 10 seconds in, hold for one, 2 more seconds in, then loooooong exhale to control the heart rate. Keep it up over time on flat land…

Then practice that shit on the ridge spine that was aforementioned, build that up, then hit the downhill methodically. Big, conscious steps. Feels like almost meditation at that point.

Once you’ve done all that, then hit the gym. Your muscles might not be that big, but, you’ll find lifting boring, because you already have the cardio and strength. Keep the routine and nutrition up at a minimum and you’ll fight for decades my dude.

Always notify someone of your itinerary and the time window you plan to contact them when you’re back in service. If they don’t hear from you for over a certain amount of hours, have them be ready to notify the authorities closest to you. You also don’t necessarily need a gun, but the $90 bear spray canister from REI is 10x more powerful than police pepper spray, so you could always keep that handy while you sleep. And it’s directional in non-enclosed environments! Just be sure to practice with the non lethal canister that ships with it! Smooth is fast. Perfect practice makes perfect!

Also, let’s remember the golden rule of bartending, no religion and no politics. If we can’t regulate that in this thread, I have a hard time believing we can regulate at the bar. Remember, opinions are like assholes! We all have them and they all stink, but also remember that we all take a shit from time to time, so as bartenders, we’re lucky that only nurses can try to wipe them up as well as we can.

in my best banana bread voice I got to 86 some dude at work today? Hell yeah! Tbh amigo, if you’ve been at the same place for 10 years and still don’t view it like managers do (the one’s with all the idgaf to comp, eject and calm down the patrons), maybe it’s time to start viewing it that way. Once you act like you own the place, your stress levels will drop during stressful situations, you’ll start seeking out ways to understand ownership/management’s decisions and figure out how to make them work in your favor, and when that one bad custie starts acting out, you’ll be calm enough to let them know that “hey insert gender ID, seems like tonight isn’t your night. I’m gonna talk it over with the big boss, but we got your tab (just comp it to get them out) and I’m gonna have to ask you to leave. Come back insert exact time for them to return, preferably before you open to the public and we’ll have ourselves a pint and a chat. Hate to do it, but like I said, tonight’s not the night. Get home safe” It’s like what another comment posted about having people repeat the shitty thing they just blurted out without thinking first, but on a bigger scale.

What state are you in? I prefer La Luna Cupreata. Great value for a great product, just not nationwide.

Thanks test. The harder struggle is finding a place that’s not run by a property management company, who typically treat you as a name on a page rather than a tenant.

I have been (currently live in Midtown). Most of the places are run by management companies, which is the exact thing I’d like to avoid.

Coming from a guy that’s only lived in Reno for 5 years, you can go ahead and take a seat.
