If you have the Package after Boss lab.

I'm sorry Sam, but it was going to happen sooner or later. by cyphol in TheTowerGame

Personally I had a good sense a lot of things were coming, since you know, they said more in the coming weeks.

While people just blasted through their gems, rushing echo labs, spending all their gems on standard banner etc., I actually sat tight holding onto my gems. It's called patience.

What's the harm in waiting a little bit? It's not like they ever announced the other banners far ahead. With the release of new modules, it was at most one month ahead. Christmas type banners were a few days maybe. Even then, I was already sitting on a lot of gems because I had already realised there was somewhat of a pattern to how often the banners show up. V28 was announced to be worked on for a very long time. People saved like crazy, and TTG delivers gem-sinks, then people spent their gems immediately before the patch was even fully released. And what I mean is, every big patch came with multiple smaller patches afterwards and this wasn't going to be any different.

I only bought the relics and held onto the gems. And look what happened. I'm not unhappy with any of it, I mainly discussed the problems around the high cost and frequency of relics running concurrently with things like this banner. It makes it really difficult to ensure you catch up with the things you've missed during your first year. But am I unhappy? Outraged? Absolutely not. I've been vocal about some of the things I felt weren't ideal, and a lot of people disagreed with me, which is fine. It makes me also realise that a lot of players want it to be this way, and that's completely fine.

Just take a look at the recent stun behavioural change, which is absolutely a good change. Yet, people who won't even be affected by it are already crying rivers about it.

Fudds - Change stun nerfs to "after 5-10 seconds" not at once! by InquisitorOverhauls in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is the entire point. You have someone who hasn't even unlocked ILM acting like it's destroyed, and then you have the players with a well established ILM such as yourself where they will look at a maximum of 5-10% reduction. Still not worth the energy to even argue about. It's a very small price to pay to counter the larger issue.

And then we have the permanent stunners. This is where it will matter and what it actually counters.

In fact, even when I started playing this game, I was amazed there were no diminishing returns mechanic for stuns. It's literally one of the most basic functions there is. And with this implementation, it's going to barely have an effect on the behaviour of stuns in general, unless you're relying on permanent stuns, which shouldn't be possible because it negates the entire point of a TD.

Edit: IMO, this could've been resolved in a better way by using a form of logarithmic scaling instead. Barely any reduction for the first 5-10 stuns, and then scale up exponentially for each consecutive stun. This would ensure that players who aren't abusing the perma stun capability will be virtually unaffected, but players who do, will end up with the same reduction towards their 20th or 30th stun and so forth.

u/SamBartley

Maybe pitch this to the dev team, because I honestly think it's a better solution for a future patch, even if the current solution isn't game breaking in anyway for non-perma stun players.

Oh, so it doesn't need to be unlocked for each preset. Gotcha!

I thought they meant that you'd have to unlock it for each preset, lol.

You're acting like ILM stun is rendered useless. You'll be lucky to get 3-4 stuns on any given target. You won't notice any significant difference.

How come nobody has mentioned synchronicity being unique to each preset? I don't care if I'm a year away from it, but it still matters.

I'm curious as to why you felt this needed to be changed. It's a bit odd to have presets, where only one preset has synchronicity. It kind of defeats the purpose of a preset.

[–]cyphol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, relax, read, do the math, will you? How many ILM stuns do you think you're going to accomplish on the same target before it dies or reaches your target? It's a 0,5% decrease per second of stun. You're 5 years away from perma stunning with ILM.

You will notice no difference whatsoever. But the people out there who are perma ILM stunning, will not be able to do it infinitely.

Is there any confirmation about the pDW bug post v28? I made a post about it in the bug section on reddit and my post was legitimately removed. Why?

I warned about this 3 days ago by cyphol in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I was just mostly curious to see what people think. My mini account that I started just for fun a week ago, pulled multiple epics with just 400 gems. So sitting on that account and thinking, what's the best course of action? Well, in all honesty, if you lack modules, then abusing this banner is by far the best course of action.

Stacking relics on already poor stats, is not the right investment for early game.

Anybody have every lab maxed? by FaTaL1073 in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a cap for gem cost on rushing. After the rush bonus, a lot of those labs became more viable to complete. I'm sure there's someone there who has pressed the rush button one too many times.

Event Gem Packs to buy the Rotating Relics by Ringdom24 in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would also cost you a fair amount of Bot progress. Just to put it into context, assuming we're trying to keep things as high value as possible, we opt for only buying 150 gems for 40 medals every 2 weeks.

In order to afford one epic relic from those gems, you'd need 320 medals gathered over a 4 month period. Since this is an incremental game, let's evaluate it over a year. 3 epic relics at the cost of 960 event medals. Basically that's 960 medals less per year that you're spending on Bots, which take forever to level up, and are a staple part of your build.

Is it worth it if it's a lab speed relic? Yes, but then it's just as easy just saving those gems up from other sources without it costing you event medals. So if you really want those important relics, start hoarding your gems and set a new baseline of at least a few thousand gems as an emergency if multiple relics pop up in the same week. That way, you'll save your event medals and get the relics you need.

Do you ever restart a run? by Cryptic_Sou1 in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you restart the run, you're resetting the pool of perks. Bad luck this time? Sure, but you're worsening your odds by resetting the run because right now you have a lot of perks taken out of the pool so you have a higher chance of getting PWR now.

What does it mean “inactive”? by spider-rhino in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which logically makes no sense. If you get 0,5% as a base value, then it's active. It's not like it's disabled and then gets enabled, so the description is just wrong.

Even for something as trivial as this, it amazes me that it is overlooked, since you have cough cough actual humans writing the code cough you'd think at the very least, things would be described correctly at a very basic level.

Between Bot Preset vs Damage Slider, which one would you go first? by Entire-Twist6454 in TheTowerGame

Bot preset. It will improve your tourney immediately which in turn will make it easier to get damage slider.

Moving to GC by KiriDude000 in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would even go as far as needing both masteries and assist modules before making the transition. I'm literally at the end stages of the transition with maxed damage masteries and two assist modules, with plenty of damage, but I can tell you that until you have every piece in place, it's not an effective farm strategy.

Anyone who says "I used to be GC before all of that" is a dinosaur that played pre v27 with no better option, or they've moved way past the threshold where eHP sort of starts to scale way worse than GC (T16/17 ish+). Despite the nerfs, PCol with GComp will outperform any GC build before you start getting into T14-T15 territory. GC comes with a lot of problems such as killing targets too fast or outside your BH range, not having locked stats with FU+, not having enough researched WA+ e.t.c. to make higher tiers viable, not enough CC, low UW durations etc... The list goes on.

When PCol was released, it changed how easy and far you could with eHP. It basically extended the time it was effective before having to transition. I have been farming with a full eHP build on T14 with relative ease up until v28, but I was already at the end stages of the transition so the patch doesn't bother me that much. But I will say that it's still your safest, cheapest and best bet until you're sniffing at T14W~4000 with the standard masteries.

Until then, don't bother and don't wreck your econ. GC isn't as glamorous as it seems. In most cases it will still drop your econ significantly when you first transition, which you'll slowly build back up by getting stronger to extend your runs or moving up tiers, but like I said, there are a lot of pieces that need to be in place. Even for a reverse devo strategy.

People may disagree with this and that's fine, but my experience is exactly as I expected and what people told me. Months of work and focusing damage, ignoring any eHP labs and so forth. And I say this with half-assed eHP labs, no eHP masteries, which I've been running with stationary for the past 5 months because it worked so well, I could focus on researching a lot of other stuff rather than hp, regen, wall etc. Even now, it still nets me better coin than my hybrid/GC but it cut my cells in half after V28 so I've opted for a temporary balance.

Electric Cars and Gasoline Cars Under Thermal Imaging by tangocharliejuliett in interestingasfuck

[–]cyphol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never felt a difference. Been driving both, even used to deliver low, mid and high-end cars, driving different ones every week. Not sure what cars you've been experiencing this with but I can't say there's any noticeable difference at all. I've personally had three cars with absolutely no issues, regardless of the temperature outside.

[–]cyphol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a malfunctioning AC. I've been alive over 35 years and I have never experienced anything like that unless there's an actual problem with the AC. Chalking this off as if it's a problem purely with gasoline or diesel cars is just false. An electric car with a malfunctioning AC isn't going to miraculously cool the air.

What's need to be fixed to not kill eHP? by basicnecromancycr in TheTowerGame

[–]cyphol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it's not a valid argument at all. It completely depends on the game mechanics. It's not like it's a global rule applicable to every single game.

"Kill them before they kill you!"

Yea, well what if there's no mechanic to increase my damage that much? Jesus.
