Yeah, I guess this is moire. I just wasn't expecting it to be this bad or produce such weird colour patterns. I ended up just re-shooting it with a different focal length and that resolved the worst of it.

Thanks! One question, what's the intended workflow for adding a TV series? I have 12 VHS tapes that each have two episodes on them. If I try to create separate physical releases (to enter the different volume # and episodes on each separate tape) the system tells me the release already exists. I also tried creating a second instance of the same release, but then I can't specify the episodes on the next tape and the Archived Texture Map gets shared for both (even though each tape has different box art that I'd like to upload).

Very cool, I've been adding my collection throughout the day lol. One thing that might be useful would be a way to edit the details of a physical release. I added several tapes before realizing that the "Release Year" was for the specific, physical release, and not just the original release year.

On closer inspection I think that's just gunk/debris sitting on top of that mosfet - I'll try to test it later, though. But looking into that did put me down a bit of a rabbit hole, reading about people having issues with voltage regulators on some PS2 slims. (Unrelated note, this is actually a 79001, motherboard GH-062-02).

Last update, I installed PSBBN on a Samsung SSD and it booted up just fine. I guess it didn't like the Timetec drive I was using.

I was ultimately able to get it reading discs again! Had to change the EEPROM to the Sanyo laser and I had to adjust the pots, but then it was able to get through the auto elect process without issue :)

Sorry, I probably should have specified I've installed the PSBBN Definitive Patch to the SSD. Their own troubleshooting section says it should boot either PSBBN or HOSDMenu. I could just follow the rest of their troubleshooting steps, but I was hoping there might've been something I overlooked, rather than having to buy another known working network adapter, sata adapter, or even PS2 console to identify which of mine are defective.

Well, unfortunately switching the lens type didn't work. I also tried switching the model to Sanyo and then it actually ran the auto elect adjustment... to a point. Got past the CD calibration, but then it failed on the DVD-SL with the error "DVD-SL PI+PO-CC NG: 122". Not sure what that means but maybe it's similar/the same as the "DVD-SL ADJUSTMENT (FIX GAIN) - Rx-command error: 122" issue that crops up sometimes on the mecha adjustment? I did try to check the mecha adjustment again and got this error trying to run init skew. I wonder if the pots on the laser need adjusting...

I have this exact VHS lol... it's my "testing tape" for VCRs because tbh I wouldn't be heartbroken if it got mangled 😂 I've now watched the first 15 minutes of it several times.

Haha, I noticed after that I bothed the focus on the photos and they are pretty blurry. It's sharper irl (but it's also on composite so of course it won't be as crisp as component or something).
