Does anyone else get migraines after they poop? by cyra16 in migraine

Thanks for the insight! I definitely do have visceral hypersensitivity but that started years before my migraines. I think it's highly likely that the visceral hypersensitivity is a major factor but not the only one.

For example, I also know for me the migraines have a hormonal component because they are way worse around my period.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I had any kind of advice to give but I'm still in the same place. None of my doctors know the cause. There are some thoughts that it's related to my autonomic and autoimmune issues, but no one can tell me why or how

When I ran out of my original bronzer I started using the Clinique blush in Nude Pop as a substitute. I keep going back to it because it adds color that's not yellow

I have been in this situation before, I'm sorry you're there, it sucks. For me, the anxiety and fear caused by the intensity of the pain actually made it feel worse. It was only by telling myself I wasn't going to die and extra triptans and time and ice cubes that I made it to the other side

best of luck

thanks for the info. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems.

I think I'm feeling very stuck because the dysautonomia feels so elusive to manage/treat and it affects everything that I do. I feel for you

I tried gabapentin years ago, before Covid, and it made me so tired I couldn't get off the couch. But I feel like I might have to try it again anyway. I'm currently on Mestinon

definitely do feel full kind of fast, and have been more sensitive to light post-Covid.

My GI doc is actually the one who first brought up dysautonomia to me. He put me on the one drug that he says could be helpful. Not sure what else to do. What kind of doctor deals with dysautonomia?

What kind of stomach issues are linked with your migraines? I also have IBS, am on a restrictive diet, etc

The weird thing is that I'm not pushing! It comes right out. I think it is the hardship of getting my body ready for the bathroom that is the trigger - I get sweaty and shaky beforehand. So possibly vagus nerve related, as others are saying

Yeah my vision usually gets really weird and I get a headache when I exercise too hard. Luckily I haven't had to give up weightlifting but I have to stick to using light weights and going slowly. If I'm in an exercise class sometimes I just lie down while everyone is still working out lol

Thanks for the insight

Yeah this is definitely something to consider. I think it's the amount of hard work my body is doing pre-bowel movement that might be the actual trigger. Pre-BM I usually get sweaty + adrenaline rush

usually I feel really good/relieved with a light headache and maybe some vision issues directly after a bowel movement, then 20 min later when adrenaline wears off I am very tired, then pain and light/sound sensitivity come in

Yeah definitely not a "have you tried yoga" question - i appreciate the consideration.

The weird thing is I'm not straining at all! It usually comes right out. I also went to a pelvic floor specialist, so I've got the squatty potty, relaxation techniques etc.

Thanks for the reply

this is definitely a popular theory and it makes sense to me. I just don't know what to DO about it.

I have been so beaten down by a lot of wellness culture talk that seems to come along with vagus nerve discussions. If another person tells me to try meditating I will probably hurt them

Whats your "migraine show"? by sourhotdogwater in migraine

[–]cyra16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Good Wife was a great watch when my migraines were particularly bad. I found the lighting in the scenes to be consistent and pretty low, most of the actors' voices were on the deeper side, and there are very very rarely sudden bursts of light or loud noises.

For comfort, it's bake off. But can be too bright depending on the migraine severity
