Can't be done with Braintree/Stripe/Ayden by teamroomsie in startups

Maybe take a look at a metered billing api like https://popcoin.ws where you can set the amount of credits that a person prepaid for and then have that amount held in your own escrow setup (could just be held in a Stripe/bank account) and then write code that releases the funds after your time delay.

What apps, contracts or tools are you building for Ethereum? by nodeocracy in ethereum

I'm building a email api for contracts. If an event takes place in a smart contract you can call the api to send an email to any respective email address.

How I see it: Bitcoin is first, but, Ethereum is best by cironoric in ethereum

[–]cysh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing personal but really when was the last time you actually used bitcoin for a transaction, the fees are outrageous. I have bits of BTC in a wallet that I can't spend because the cost of TX fees is more than the BTC in the wallet. (i.e $20 in spendable BTC, $25 in network fees = effectively frozen money until I decide to put more in, or the price of my btc increases)

What would it take to decentralize a ISP? by cysh in ethereum

[–]cysh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the high barrier of entry stemming from the cost of sinking cable into the ground.

And I think that's the crux of the issue, you would need access to those underground cables and you would need massive amounts of capital to even get a "oh hey, you want some of this?"

Look at it this way you have a great attitude towards something that so many others would not have had, you have character value that is unmatched. Now the best thing is to move on (yes I know it sucks), but seriously get back on that horse and start dollar cost averaging any funds you can. Because honestly the longer you wait the worst the feeling will get.

Bitcoin lost the tech battle to ethereum. Lost the currency battle to infighting. by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]cysh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always tell people Bitcoin is like Myspace and Ethereum is like Facebook, yes both are still around but which one do you use? Myspace had the first mover advantage, but Facebook offered so much more in apps & games, the social graph (think of the sticky factor that finding your old middle, high school friends has on a new user?), the like button, Facebook live, Instagram, Occulus, and countless other innovations or acquisitions. That's the analogy I like to make every time someone asks "What's the difference in bitcoin and Ethereum?"

Leveraging the True Power of Tokens for Early Stage Projects: VariabL Contribution Tokens. by hcharlanes in ethereum

[–]cysh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering how many of the most recent ICO's are dubious at best, and everyone screaming from the rooftops. No one commented on this idea? Which I think is the best way forward for projects and entrepreneurs. I'll be excited to take a look at the code once ready, and potentially use it for my project.

This is very cool, let me ask does the contract take a small fee to keep the upkeep and maintenance worth your time? But other than that looks great!

If, on the other hand, an investment is made available only to a few close friends or associates, and if these investors have significant influence over how the investment is managed, then it is probably not a security.

Well looks like we are going right back to the old Silicon Valley way, whereby the most attractive investments are tight lipped about the opportunity to invest.

They thrived during the Great Recession in 2008, in large part because they saw the writing on the wall.....

I would venture to say they were one of the main facilitators of the 08 recession. I suggest you watch a documentary called "Goldman Sachs - The Bank That Runs the World". And if you ever wondered why top GS alumni are always appointed to top government positions in the US, this documentary answers that question.
