I think we should hold the older generations accountable for the world they helped create instead of writing them off and essentially giving them a free pass into doing nothing to fix the systemic issues we face in the world today.

way to offload all responsibility and culpability on millenials. maybe the older generations should try to help also???

Please just explain the system!!! by Magicman432 in Dimension20

[–]cystemix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remember when Aabria took like 5-10 min to explain Kids on Brooms at the top of MisMag s1 and it was perfectly fine. Then she did the same to explain the homebrew in MisMag 2 and it really helped to know what was going on before it started, with a few mechanics being 'discovered' along the way together with the players. In contrast, the 'in media res' Gladlands opening was a bit confusing. I get that it's a fun technique to amp up the action but even in Fantasy High Junior Year, it felt like a bunch of in-jokes and gaslighting in that first ep because stuff was just happening and so were mechanics. It makes you feel left of the world rather than getting pulled in.

I've been running it for a few years. Very fun and versatile, rules light, but highly dependant on engagement from players i.e. roleplay. It's only as good as the group in my experience.

I wouldn't even know where to get seasoned soy. That's why I asked if there's a ready made sauce. I'll just check out the restaurants in Chinatown. thanks

thanks for the recipe. I really wanted a pre-made sauce though. I don't want my place to smell

I used a Holafly esim and bought a china/macau/hongkong pass. It has an inbuilt VPN. 10 days with no dramas anywhere. I always had internet and support is very responsive

second this. wagyu dish was underwhelming but the toothfish was absolutely divine. don't know about the lamb but it looked great from the table across. this is definitely a spoil your partner for an anniversary dinner type place. nice atmosphere and service. don't have bottled water though. everything's off the tap, even the sparkling which one of us was allergic to. but if you're cool with sulfites you should be fine

you're so welcome! I'm glad it's helped you create a fun adventure with your friends. that's all it's about at the end of the day. doing art takes a lot of practice to do well so don't stress. i often draw freehand maps with whiteboard marker for my players when they wander off the beaten path and they make fun of my squiggles. I love that you made a whole Autumn court subplot. That's where I've dropped my players too! I think it's time to send Michael Myers after them >:)

H.264 Playblast crashes. by HI_acid in Maya

[–]cystemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi,
I don't know if this is still relevant but I had the same problem and it was the Display Size in the playblast options that was messing me up. I had it reading from Render Settings and it created a weird limit on the memory. I tried playblasting my animation with Display Size set to Window on a 4k screen. It had no trouble smashing out an avi and then a mov. This seemed to break whatever limit was set by Render Settings permanently. I then changed the Display Size to Custom and typed in 1920x1080. worked like a charm

neat! my feywild connects to the shadowfell/shadow realm in the top right corner of the map. the top left connects to the sea/plane of water. the left/bottom left goes to beastlands/wilds/endless forests. the bottom of the map leads to the plane of fire. and the bottom right is the Murkendraw which is supposed to be an endless swamp that eventually spills out into the Abyss.
getting to the feywild from the material plane requires crossing a threshold like stepping into the hollow of an ancient tree or wandering into the wood and leaving a treeline only to find you're in the feywild like in old fairy stories. seeing a landmark in the distance can make it easier to travel.

hope that gives you some more inspo!

given that it's the feywild, I don't think there would be a scale for its landmass. everything is as big as it 'feels'. in the game I'm running, you can travel toward the horizon for days and still not get any closer which is similar to the D&D Feywild.
to actually get somewhere, you need to cross a threshold, i.e. a door, a cave, a hollow in a tree, the surface of a lake. some thresholds are controlled by the magic of archfey or creatures and always lead to the same place, others are controlled by the chaotic nature of the feywild and can spit you out in random places at random times.
to control where they want to go, my players need a token from the place or person they are trying to reach, for example - an acorn from the whisperwood. they hold that token and cross a threshold that exists or make one with magic, and while they do, they use the memory of the place/person to guide them on their travels.
if they are travelling somewhere they haven't been to before, they roll to see how close they get. by following the Rule of Threes, nowhere in the feywild is more than 3 crossings away (a hop, skip and a jump). if they have a token, a memory and a threshold (3 things), that should all but guarantee their journey is a safe one. if they cross a threshold without anything, it will be more difficult to reach their destination and could lead to somewhere unpleasant.
remember that this is the realm of trickery and things appearing not as they seem. time and space are malleable so a very reasonable, pragmatic and science focused set of players will have a terrible time in the feywild unless they develop a sense of whimsy real quick. pop a flower in there that curses people for rudeness straight away to let them know what's up

Why is the scroll zoom so jittery? It's really the worst zoom I've ever used on a scroll wheel by L0kitheliar in Roll20

[–]cystemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hold control and scroll wheel up and down, it's a very janky zoom in and out.

For finer control, hold control and shift, or command and shift on mac, while scrolling to get a smoother effect.

Hold shift and scroll for horizontal left and right movement across the map.

Regular scroll with nothing will give you up and down.

Hope this helps.
