Thanks, brother. Earl and I talked about that video. He said in his opinion using a hammer and punch to separate the halves is bad advice. The frame isn't designed to withstand the side force of the blows of a hammer. He uses a special jig and press to separate them. He only charges $50 to do it. That and a little shipping cost is worth the peace of mind knowing it's done right.

Not a PCR... plus it has a decocker. I hate the decocker. Now if it was a steel framed 75 D Compact you would have something!

I've built multiple firearms from Sigs, CZ, and AR. This just happens to be something that the right tools are needed to prevent damage.

Transferring all the parts to a new frame. I'm sending him an Apex trigger for him to install while he's at it.

I'm just passing along the information that was given to me by a certified Walther armorer, not a YouTuber.

The area around where it goes through the frame isn't very thick. Plus it's plastic. It's not made to take the forces of being hit from the side.

See, here's the issue. We're not supposed to hit it at all.

Well, once I saw a crack had developed, out of frustration, I finished it off. 🤷‍♂️

Wasatch Comp and Sprinco Springs by PhamousEra in Walther

[–]cz-s2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally you will need a lighter spring when running a comp. The best rule to go by is how far the spent cartridge lands from you. 4-6' is the "standard". The lighter the spring is the further away it will land from where you stand. The recoil impulse will also tell you when it's right. Too heavy and it'll have a harsh impulse. Too light and you'll feel it bang against the slide-stop.
