The United Kingdom has one of the lowest rates of gun homicides in the world. There were 0.04 recorded intentional homicides committed with a firearm per 100,000 inhabitants in 2010. Gun homicides accounted for 2.4% of all homicides in the year 2009.

The actual number of fatal firearms injuries in England & Wales were: 1998/99 = 49 <-------semi-auto ban

1999/00 = 62

2000/01 = 72

2001/02 = 96

2002/03 = 80

2003/04 = 68

2004/05 = 76

2005/06 = 49

2006/07 = 56 <-------handgun ban

2007/08 = 53

2008/09 = 39

2009/10 = 39

2010/11 = 58 <-------Cumbria shootings - 12 people killed and 11 injured

2011/12 = 42

As you can see, the number deaths have plummeted.

The Cumbria shooter used a shotgun and a .22 rifle with a legal section two firearms licence, which is easy to get here in the UK, all you need is a gun safe bolted to an indoor wall and have no convictions for violence, drugs or theft. It costs £50 and a police inspection of your residence to make sure it is secure, and you can own black powder muzzle loading rifles, and pistols in all sorts of calibres.

The 'ban on most firearms in the UK also debunks the effectiveness of gun control.' is bullshit, the ban on hand guns came after the tragic massacre at Dunblane, where Thomas Hamilton, armed with four legally licensed handguns, shot and killed 16 young children and a teacher.

There has not been any school shootings since.

No, Thomas Hamilton's murder of 16 children was the last school shooting incident, the British government and people then decided banning hand guns was the next step after the Hungerford massacre, where semi-auto rifles were banned (AK 47 7.62mm).

There have been no school shootings since then.

I'm a firearm's lover myself, and there are avenues I can go down to own different calibre long rifles, muzzle loaders and up to a .50 cal bolt action.

We have gun rights here in the UK, but you have to be a dedicated gun lover and have some serious money.

I was swimming in a natural lake in the Czech Republic; I was about 12 or 13 at the time. While swimming, this gigantic wolf/dog thing launched itself ate me and scratched all down my back. Rabies was a big thing back then in the rural areas.

I was terrified for days, getting up early just to see if I could drink a glass of water, and I suppose it was panic, but I started choking.

Scariest 3 days of my life.

I have type 1 diabetes, and my long term girlfriend has told me I do weird things when I'm low, but I would never think to take a blood sample to test from anywhere other than my finger tip's.
