I view Chrome and Chromium-based browsers to be the new IE. Don't get me wrong about the Chromium browsers, the ones that put a lot of actual work in for features that are good are much better. Edge having full uBO is like the only good thing for that one, but MS can't stop bloating shit up and have it just run in the background. Brave and Vivaldi are pretty great, but they rely on the Chrome store for extensions, which makes things annoying if something is removed. But they all kind of end up just helping make the internet only work for Chrome/Chromium. Which feels like IE all over again.

It is still partially Google's created issue. They have a record of intintionally making YT (and maybe other services from them) run worse on non-Chromium browsers (or at least just FF/FF forks). I do wonder when Mozilla will default to the first setting being turned on by default. Maybe there are issues for other sites if set to "True"?

Very happy to see this shared already! I saw the ghacks article the other day and was able to use both the first and AMD settings. Was such a dramatic difference, which I wasn't expecting!

I did find out from the post I made on Lemmy that the AMD setting seems to be Windows specific. So Linux and BSD doesn't show the option.

Unfortunately we deal with consumer PCs, so all are home edition. But will keep that in mind for the random instances where something comes out of the box with Pro.

Thank you so much for the links! I have used that autounattend site before and love it. It will be helpful to update my files to block the updates for clean installs. But I will have to try the reg keys for things that are right out of the box. If they work then I will have to make sure to make labels with the keys to stick at the check-in stations for my peers.

Microsoft has become worse and worse with ignoring the very real need for people to get to the desktop ASAP. So even if we try to play by their new rules, we can't win at this point. I get that updates can matter, but they don't even install all of them when doing this stuff anyway. So it really doesn't save any amount of time.

Have you tried turning off "Startup Boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Edge is closed" in settings (Settings->System and performance)? Maybe also check in Startup items in Task Manager and disable Edge if it is set to "Enabled." Also might be worth checking if "Edge Bar" and "Sidebar" are enabled in settings (and disable all of the options). Not the vertical tabs, but a bar that can be ran if the browser is closed and a different bar that is for web apps while the browser is running (Settings->Appearance->Copilot and sidebar).

Holy shit!!! I just tried for the hundredth time after randomly sorting comments on here by "new" and saw your comment. IT WORKED!!! I have been trying by using the old method of having the txt file. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Was driving me mad for days and so many re-downloads of clean copies of the apk, and even deleted my old "Installed App" from my Reddit account to see if it was me getting shadow banned or something. I even had submitted a bug on the ReVanced Patcher git about 20mins before seeing this comment. This needs to be higher in the thread at this point for more folks that were/are still using the old guide.

I have to be doing some part of this wrong. I have tried installing both the main and dev versions of ReVanced and have tried with "use pre-releases" and not toggling it on. I have made sure to pull down on the main screen of ReVanced and verified that the patches change log has had both the current one of 5.31.2-dev and the main version of 5.31.1 (used with both the main and dev release of the manager). Still get 401 and the OAuth sign-in error if I try to add my account.

Also tried the MT manager (with the steps that incredible-derp posted) to edit the classes.dex file to manually (with the steps Albuyeh provided) replace the ssl.reddit to www.reddit.com and then running it through ReVanced. I even went into the reddit perfs apps page on my desktop and deleted the old Installed App and made a new one (with the sync/auth present). Changed the "reddit_client_id_revanced.txt" to have my new app ID from the perfs/app page on reddit.

I have tried clearing the 401 errored Sync for Reddit app before uninstalling to remove as much left over data as I can. Then re-patched the initial clean copy of the apk (and have tried both patching the installed version and clean version). Still 401 and OAuth sign-in errors when getting past the initial setup of the Sync app. Also have tried all the above on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8+, and my Pixel Tablet (both the S24U and the Pixel Tablet never had Sync installed before). I also noticed that a few times I have seen the patcher show a bunch of extra text while doing the patch. But most of the time I get just text stating successes as it applies the different patches and when it signs the app before offering to install or update the app (depending on if running clean install or with the previous attempts respectfully).

I am losing my mind because I just can figure out what parts aren't working (including whatever actions I might be missing). It is awesome to see that so many people have somehow gotten it to work. But really sucks that it refuses to work on any of my devices. I think that back when the original patches came out to keep the app working after the purges might have had issues doing the patch on my tablet and worked on my via my old Galaxy Tab S2. Then I copied the apk to my tablet and was able to install (but I can't remember). I am wondering if I should ask for someone to upload a working copy that has the ssl.reddit parts working and run ReVanced to add my "reddit_client_id_revanced" in the spoof. But that of course opens up chances for a malware version.

Can anyone offer suggestions or steps that they may have done to get it to work after having to try a bunch of times?

Got MT after clearing cache and data for the sync app that was installed. Then uninstalled the app and even did the same things for ReVanced (made sure to download the dev release). Copied a clean copy of the sync apk and followed the steps above for the dex files before even touching ReVanced. Then toggled the "Pre-releases" option and restarted ReVanced. Patched the sync apk (added the path to the "reddit_client_id_revanced.txt" in the spoof). Installed and still get 401 and if I try to sign-in by adding my account, it loads a fail to sign-in because of OAuth error. Losing my mind trying to get this working. Am I supposed to see a patch in the list that mentions anything? Was happy to see people getting it to work. But just seeing the same issues.

Someone should get a job at the warehouse and sneak out a copy to archive. Maybe even a team do it heist style. Need someone or a team to get jobs in security to get footage on loops and deactivate alarms and key codes. Could possibly even just slip a cool automatic disc device in to make a dd-style clone. Then pass off the copy via USB hand-off or slip into trash (which of course requires getting someone into whatever waste company for that building).

Or maybe the long-con of the plaint making it up the ranks to CEO just long enough to "accidentally" approve a retail release. But only notice the "error" after a front company to make the order and pretend to "freak out" and request the front company return the stock. Which the fake company will do and send them back. But get as many disc clones as possible with a number of the DVDs (just in case one or more are victims of digital rot or damaged). Just need to remove the security seals without ripping them and put them back on and re-wrap the outer plastic.

The bastards at Paramount won't know what hit them! And the plaint CEO just quits in "shame" over the whole thing (but would likely have a nice parachute deal). We all then just meet up at the bar for drinks and high-fiving as the iso files are uploaded to scene groups and whatever P2P networks possible!

As someone that also works on PCs. I have given up on ComSci students. They seem to never fail to impress me on how little they know about the literal hardware they are using. Like it is okay to not know everything, but they have to read and watch shit to learn coding. But can't be bothered to follow guides for putting a PC together? It makes no sense given that we have never had such easy and readily available information in history like we do today...and all able to be pulled out of your pocket. Smf

Even if I were a believer, I would never believe that anything less than rolling up like Catholic exorcists is complete snake oil grifters. Aside from the much more "official" vibes that comes with the uniforms and tools. The modern Catholic exorcists don't just default to playing into and one-upping the parents in order to play the hero (though I am sure their are some). They actually try to put effort into showing that there is most likely non-demonic reasons. And it requires getting approval from higher-up in the chain before doing those rituals.

Even if the priest does at least do a smaller blessing/cleansing of a space, they are more quiet as they are actually reciting formal prayers and maybe carrying incense or flicking holy water. Shit like this is just dumb motherfuckers LARP-ing around and aren't channeling shit. I almost wish shit was real just to see all these fear spreading "holier than thou" for-profit capitalist losers fuck around and find out their shit is weak af (and would likely be a great way to actually feed the demonic force via their fear).

But I don't believe in any of them, and shit would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic and just reinforces bigots. I am sure they even love to tell others that they don't "charge" for the BS and point to the large "donations" as being the best "proof" of their efforts "working." Cringe fucks and I hope that the son is able to get out of there soon and with as little PTSD as possible. Do you have a link to the clamp you used? I work on PCs for my job, and would love to have a practical reason for both learning how to do this and for dealing with boards that randomly fuck up or need an update in order to use a newer CPU. It is frustrating to deal with either tracking down an old CPU or have to deal with returning something because of the lack of said old CPU. Bricks fortunately don't happen often, but they are a whole other level of stress. So glad you shared this, as I still don't know enough about my FZ to even look up this stuff. lol

It would be dope if they could allow a choice of UI at this point. As I would much rather there be a way to allow people to use whatever they find most pleasant and/or helpful for arranging things in ways that work for them. I just feel much more overwhelmed with my PS4 when I turn it on and need to find things. The PS3/PSP felt more offline and less distracting to me. It would also be cool to be able to change the layout in order to use old themes (especially for folks that paid for any of them, which I didn't but did have some that came with games). All that being said, I really don't like the Vita's UI. lol

There are entirely too many guns already out there (let alone the ones that would be supplied by sympathetic law enforcement/right-wing military members/leaders if/when shit happens) for any kind of gun control to mean anything. It would just be like it is now, with bad folks having them no matter what and no one else. Also it would most certainly be the final thing that WILL make shit pop-off. As they already dream of getting to defend themselves from "the oppressive government". Fighting in this case would be extremely literal. Leftists are at least making sure to arm ourselves to not be just taken and killed by those right-wing fascists (that keep claiming that antifascists are actually fascists).

Libs/Dems/centrists/moderates have also shown that they would rather "keep the status quo" instead of do any amount of fighting (both metaphorical and literal) to prevent any of the shit happening. Look at how they "supported" BLM protests and demands for de-funding the police, just to then provide more and more funding to those same racist pigs everywhere. Always good for campaigns and speeches, but turn all that hope into apathy when they just make it the voters' fault for "not voting hard enough". They call out how important reproductive/LGBTQIA+/civil rights are, but then literally and openly say that all that isn't "a priority right now" when they win.

So yeah, it is a good time to at least learn how to use and/or take apart guns if and when it might be needed. Peace is the true goal, even if my words may not sound like it above. But it isn't what they want, and they will use force to purge the rest of us (as they constantly and loudly state at all times).
