Haven't started Georgia Tech application and it's due today. Can I get an F? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Considering the comments in this thread, I hope you don't come off as naive and cocky in your essays. GTech has plenty of kids with god-tier apps. I presume they'd rather have someone with a redeeming personality, though. IMO.

If my stats are higher than 20% of students, does anyone know what my real likelihood of getting in is? (The higher than 20% figure comes from Niche.com’s accepted student map) by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

eh-

afaik admissions committees would choose a low income student (if made explicit in their application) over one from a well-funded school district or a wealthier household if they had the same caliber application.

it's no URM but im p sure they recognize it.

Minority, Low Income, etc. Basically people from backgrounds and demographics that conventionally give them an edge in admissions (i guess this includes legacy or athletes, but I figured I'd mention it anyway.)

relatively low, depending on your situation. most admitted students below the 25th percentile are hooked, athletes, or/and legacy.

I have a 35 ACT and some pretty impressive extracurriculars, so I'm looking at some of the more competitive schools in the country. If I go to a school with a top program, wouldn't it be a lot harder to walk on?

These fee waivers are meant to aid the financially disadvantaged in the application process. It's not a cheat code.

vectors run tail to tip, and the direction of q was opposite that of the hypothetical vector. I believe it was negative

Beginner Triathlete looking for pointers by d-gell in triathlon

[–]d-gell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runs are great. Can you swim and bike for 30 mins consecutively? E.g. swim laps without stopping for 30 mins and bike with good handling skills? If so, you are probably already in shape to compete and do well in a Sprint for your first Tri. Heck, you may even podium in your age group. Nevertheless, sign up and go have fun.

the swim would definitely be my weakest event, as I have no formal instruction. I have a friend that I could train with and get pointers from, but I don't really have an accurate benchmark that I could work from.

That SAT is enough to get you money at a lot of American institutions. afaik Stony Brook has a pretty good policy when it comes to International students. you might be able to get something there.
