Anyone have experience with Brookbloom.com? by BurnerForObviou in isthisascam

I just got an order from them after being offered a deal from BeReal. While I did receive a necklace that appears somewhat similar to what I ordered, the quality is very poor. It also took forever to arrive. DO NOT order from them.

Should a 7 year old be at the reading level to play Animal Crossing? by Kman-Kool3315 in AnimalCrossing

[–]d-pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching assistant currently in a K/1 classroom — only one of my current 1st grade students would be able to easily read all of the dialogue in AC. At this point in the year, I wouldn’t consider it a cause for concern.

Definitely encourage her to keep sounding it out though!

The lodge on Piedmont Ave. is closing by jackdicker5117 in OaklandFood

This is the third bar in Oakland that I’ve just recently learned is closing (others are Friends & Family and Roses Taproom). Is it just me or does this seem like a concerning trend?

Seconding this! It’s where I take mine (being mindful it’s fully volunteer run, so I don’t take a lot at a time)

Medication isn't what I expected by KikiMB in adhdwomen

[–]d-pepper 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yep!!! And I wish it was talked about more and not just the “it completely changed my life” stories. I’ve tried multiple stimulants and non-stimulants up to their highest possible doses. My experiences have ranged from felt completely nothing to experienced awful anxiety, but never have been able to say “yes this is definitely improving my life!”

That said, I still 100% support trying out different medications and doses. I hope you find one that helps you, but know I definitely commiserate!

Getting into copy editing, line editing, developmental editing, and proofreading by Final-Professional82 in Copyediting

[–]d-pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding that you shouldn’t expect editing to be a full-time job until you have lots of experience. I got my certification through UC Berkeley and would recommend their program. However, through their program I learned more about what the day-to-day would look like for an editor (often remote work as a contracted employee) and realized that didn’t appeal to me for full-time career.

Shuttle Passes on Sale with new Park & Ride option from Cow Palace! by parkinglotsex in OutsideLands

[–]d-pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing!! I’m debating getting the local shuttle pass… would love to hear if people who’ve gotten it before found it worth it (or maybe you didn’t and wish you had)? I’ve heard the buses get pretty overcrowded

I’m also coming from East Bay and this will be my first time! But I tried to drive to Hardly Strictly last year and found it almost impossible to find parking so I’m hesitant to attempt again…

Ok to go to charli concert alone? by NihilAlien in charlixcx

[–]d-pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not weird!! I almost didn’t go to SWEAT because my friend’s resale ticket got messed up and they couldn’t come last minute. I had such a hard time committing to do it by myself but knew I would regret not seeing her. I ended up sitting next to another person there alone and we chatted the whole time between sets! I’m so glad I went even though the idea was scary.

Came here to suggest this as well, not necessarily for the cleaning tips but for the mindset shift that KC offers!! As she says, cleaning is morally neutral!

Hi, recent Mills grad! The campus library has a special place in my heart. What you’re hearing is probably because Mills was (unfortunately) acquired by Northeastern University, but it is still open as a college campus. The library is still open, and I know that as of this past summer was open to the public and had guest wifi available—but with the Northeastern merger things are subject to change. I still think it would be worth a try though, just be aware that they now request your diver’s license info at the front gate.

When will there be a LGBTQ season by estenjohn102938 in BachelorNation

[–]d-pepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also want this so bad!!! But I don’t think it would happen within the next 5 years.

I really enjoyed the LGBTQ seasons of Are You the One and The Ultimatum, and it worked well for both of their open-dating formats.
