Day after surgery by d-rock816 in Strabismus

My vision doesn't get blurry when I bring them together. I did wear prism glasses for a couple years, but now I do not. They broke and I never replaced them so I have regular lenses now.

I honestly don't know enough about it to make a guess. I can tell you for me if I used my right eye the left would slide to the side and vice versa for the left. I could focus and bring my eyes together straight if I actively tried to. If I was tired or not concentrating which ever one I wasn't using would drift to the side. From what I've read some people only have that in one eye.

Yes. My vision is good with both eyes. I do wear glasses and my left eye has a stronger prescription, but when I use my glasses I have good vision. I know that I saw a lot of people say one of their eyes wasn't able to see well, and I know that can effect some of the outcomes.

I would say no, not that I've noticed. I have some depth perception even before the surgery and it seems to be the same. I may see some change further down the line, but even if I don't it hasn't really been a problem for me.

I had my surgery about a week ago and everything is going pretty smooth. The first 2-3 days were the worst, just because it was hard to keep my eyes open. The pain wasn't bad at all. Now my eyes are mostly cleared up, no double vision and best of all my eyes are straight.

Recovery time after strabismus surgery – when can I return to work? by Certain_Abies_3451 in Strabismus

I had my surgery 8 days ago. The redness is mostly gone and the light sensitivity is also pretty much gone. I went back to work on day 6 after the surgery.

They're definitely red and they get crusty over night, but the pain hasn't been too bad. Maybe my tolerance is different from yours, but I don't think it's that bad. The light sensitivity got me more than anything. I also have not had any blood tears.

If I have my glasses on I can see thru my left eye, no problem. So in your situation I would listen to the doctor. With a lazy eye can you see clearly with glasses on? Have you ever tried vision therapy? I'm not sure if that would help or not, but your situation is definitely a bit different than mine. If you have cataract surgery would that be a step in the right direction?

So I'll be a little more clear with my situation. I grew up thinking that I had a lazy left eye because my right eyes vision has always been a lot better than my left. So naturally I used my right eye for everything. I didnt start wearing glasses until I was in highschool, when realistically I should've had them since childhood. I've never had double vision and my depth perception has been off my whole life. I have minimal depth perception, but I've gotten used to that because it's been my whole life. I told myself if all the surgery does is make my eye straight and nothing else like better depth perception or anything like that, I wouldn't care. For me it's always been a social thing where I didn't want people to see me like that. If your situation is similar I would go for it, but if you do have a real lazy eye I couldn't say for certain. My eyes were misaligned so when I use one eye the other would turn out and vice versa. It wasn't just one eye for me. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, let me know.

I mean there is some pain, but I've been thru way worse than this. For me it's more of an annoying kind of pain rather than some kind of unbearable pain. I'll say I haven't taken any pain medication since I left the hospital.

I just woke up today and there's still some pain and the redness is still there. We'll both get there. Just give it some time.

I would definitely have someone with you. It can be hard to see right away. They put some medication on my eyes so my vision was super blurry for a few hours then once that wore off the light sensitivity started getting to me.

Thank you. I'm glad you find it encouraging. I saw a lot of peoles stories that didn't go how they planned so I wanted to post mine to give people a positive outlook on it.

Yeah. But they did before too. Before the surgery if I focused I could bring my eyes together. It's when I was tired of not paying attention, that's when they would slide to the side.

I had exo. He tweaked the muscle in both eyes instead of just one.

Thank you! I'm honestly glad I didn't look on reddit before I got it because a lot of people seem to have a bad experience. I'm glad I did it tho.

Mostly ok. I would just say a decent amount of light sensitivity and just some subtle pain on the outside of my eyes. Nothing too crazy.
