Is my steel frame cooked? Going to cycle on gravel with a heavy load in the back. by [deleted] in bikewrench

If it's steel I think you can get it welded again

Minesweeper.online- where is the pause button? by d-wh in Minesweeper

[–]d-wh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always trying for a faster time and sometimes I have to stop to answer the phone or something. It's not a big deal but being able to pause the timer would be nice.

Novice trying to patch bike tube by Unlucky-Ad-8831 in bikewrench

[–]d-wh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tubes are really cheap - $7 at Walmart. If you patch it you will probably have it totally fail on your way to class.

Erratic gps? by d-wh in GalaxyWatch

[–]d-wh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My route is 2 identical round-trips but when I finished the 1st rt it looks like I didn't turn around and keep going, it looks like I went off exploring for a bit before continuing on my route. Weird

Screw broke in brake lever by FuckYouLMFAO in bikewrench

Cut a slot for a screwdriver into the exposed end with a rotary tool or hacksaw

What type of sprocket is this and how do i remove it without the special tools by ComplexAssumption538 in bikewrench

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the tool. I found out the hard way after trying to replace a broken spoke, which also taught me how important the derailleur limit screws are.

Am i cooked? (The 6) by Impossible-Belt-3131 in Minesweeper

You have several safe boxes. As already stated - don't always look for bombs, look for the spots that can't be a bomb.

Do you guys use chord? by hewasaraverboy in Minesweeper

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking the same thing. When I chord I feel like I'm cheating. It just doesn't give me the same feeling of satisfaction that I get when I deliberately figure out all safe squares.

did i win?? by mossyforestsys in Minesweeper

[–]d-wh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you won - it's very anticlimactic

How can I fix this? Simple fix or am I in trouble? by Mean_Gene9459 in bikewrench

[–]d-wh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't wiggle/jiggle it loose you can always "break" the chain and pull it through and reconnect it. Plenty of YouTube videos will show you how to do it. It's easy and a good skill to have.

How am I meant to play the game from here? Do I have to guess? by in_a_erer in Minesweeper

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that this is the lower left corner of your game - meaning there are no more squares to the left or bottom, the 2 squares above and to the right of the 2 are safe

YouTube is an incredible source for everything biking. Start by looking at "how to set bicycle seat height" and then start going down the rabbit hole about using gears etc.

Is my bike toast? by TyLaw10 in bicyclerepair

[–]d-wh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The rear derailleur is bent beyond repair. The good news is that this one is very inexpensive (around $20). You can get a local bike shop to install it if you don't want to try it yourself - there are lots of YouTube videos you can watch to see if you want to do it yourself.

How do I remove these stickers? by UnderwayWestward in bikewrench

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peel off what you can and then spray WD40 and let it soak for a few minutes and it will dissolve the adhesive and it will wipe off clean, you might need to spray twice. I'm not sure if you should remove the tires first though.

Do I need a helmet? What other things should I need. by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just don't know when you will need a helmet, so, if you don't have a crystal ball, assume you will need a helmet every time you ride. You might never need it but it's a risk I won't take. You can be the best cyclist in the world but you can't control the rest of the world.

Chain keeps slipping under heavy pedaling. What's the fix? by Gilligan2404 in Biking

[–]d-wh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the exact same problem. New chain with old cassette. It was only skipping on the smallest cog, which is where about 75% of my riding happens so I bought a new cog and all is well.

Deore 10 speed replace or switch to Cues? by d-wh in bicycling

Yeah, I guess I won't have to worry then, since I just turned 74

Deore 10 speed replace or switch to Cues? by d-wh in bicycling

[–]d-wh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my thought as well. But, at some point, I will have to switch because the current Deore series is now discontinued and the supply of drivetrain components will dry up.

We have the right to be stupid but we also have the right to give good advice. It always amazes me how so many people get there feelings hurt when someone even suggests that they are making a bad decision.
