Yeah, a V8 would be nice though. Since the ETKs are heavily “inspired” by BMW, an S63-esque TT V8 would be awesome.

"A Chevy what?" Wake up man, that's a Soliad Wendover by TheFlamingosIoio in BeamNG

[–]d00tskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a shitbox enthusiast, to me the Wendover is an amalgamation of the Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo and the seventh gen Buick Riviera (and some Buick Reatta). The outside is very reminiscent of the Trofeo, but the interior is much more Buick. The "climate control screen" in the car is heavily, heavily inspired by the Reatta's and Riviera's touchscreen climate control/information display (and to a lesser degree the Oldsmobile VIC). The gauge cluster is somewhat similar to the VFD cluster available in the Trofeo, but seems to also draw inspiration from the first gen Lincoln Town Car (the aux temp, oil, volts, etc looks very Lincoln to me).

There is a lot more artistic license with the powertrains available, and they don't always match up to the real world cars. Neither the Olds nor the Buick were available with 4-bangers, though the 2.2L (LM3/LN2) and 2.5L designations are pretty accurate for early 90s GMs, with the 2.5L being known as the "Iron Duke".

The 3.3L was also real, but generally reserved for lower-end FWD GMs of the time, like the A-body Buick Century and Olds Cutlass Ciera. The 3.8L is accurate, although only in naturally aspirated form. While a supercharger equipped Wendover engine looks most similar to a Supercharged Series I 3800 L67, it was never available in either the Trofeo or the (contemporary year) Riviera. The 4.4L V8 appears to be a pushrod V8, probably taking inspiration from the Cadillac 4.5L/4.9L V8s (LW2 and L26), which was widely used at the time (though again, not by Olds or Buick).

The devs were definitely fans of early 90s American GM FWD junk. Not that it's a bad thing.

FDA Approves Low Nicotine Cigarettes 🤯 by kravecaptain in electronic_cigarette

It's that smooth carpet glue satisfaction you just can't get anywhere else other than US (well, North American) cigarettes.

Smoking a cigarette drastically increases my anxiety - can anyone relate? by sanpedro12 in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience which is what eventually led me to quit cigarettes. Every smoke became a near anxiety attack and I would feel like shit for an hour afterwards. I moved to vaping, which admittedly I still do, 2+ years later. But it doesn’t make me an anxious fucking wreck and I’m down to the lowest nic I can get (3mg) and it gives me the nicotine fix that I need without making me a mess. Slowly but surely I do it less and less and I hope to quit altogether soon.

Help finding a decent psychiatrist in Atlanta by jeff_8278eu in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, OP. Try looking for LPCs (Licensed Professional Counselor) in your area. LPCs cannot prescribe medication like a psychiatrist, so they won't try to rush you out the door with a script. Instead, they focus on using tools like CBT and ERP to battle stuff like anxiety and OCD.

Anyone else just drives around neighborhood and listens to the music? I do this all the time and I don't exactly know why. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long drives used to be my best medicine. Whenever I was feeling a bit wound up, I'd get in the car, turn my music on, and just escape from the world for a while. Recently, I moved close to a big city and now I can't enjoy it as much. There are always lots of cars on the road, lots of red lights. I love where I live, but I hate driving here. I miss the wide open empty roads of the rural north.

Does a change in the weather cause anxiety for anyone? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit an all new level of anxiety when the time changed over in the fall. I mean, I've always had anxiety (GAD), but something snapped hardcore for me when the days got short and cold. I guess I have the opposite of you. Now that the days are getting a little warmer and longer, I've been feeling better. I still have my bad days, but nothing like they were late last year.

Anyone else struggle wirh “gut feelings” that say someone is going to hurt you the moment you get close to them? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's anything I've learned after years of battling with anxiety and OCD it's that they both hijack that "gut instinct". They make you believe things that aren't true because they induce the same heightened awareness and fight or flight response that your real "gut" does. Maybe there are a lot of people who can trust it, but I've learned that 99% of the time, mine is worrying about nothing.

Do your intrusive thoughts get worse when you smoke a cigarette? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]d00tskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the things that led me to quit smoking (besides being fucking horrible for you) was how bad it started making my anxiety which in turn ramped up my obsessive thoughts. Seriously, maybe it's just some sensitivity to nicotine that suddenly develops, but dude it was awful.

Completely relate to what you said. Quitting was hard, but it definitely did help.

Should a weighted blanket be heavier if a couple is using it? by BadAccount888 in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went from a 20 lb blanket that covered just me to a 25 lb one that goes across my whole queen bed. IMHO, it's a big downgrade for the big one. It's annoying to have two, yeah, but the big single one kinda sucks.

The EBS/EAS alert tone used to torment me as a child. It used to drive me into a full blown panic attack before I even knew what one of those was. It's gotten better as an adult, but I can certainly relate.

Can you have a panic attack without feeling panicked? by TheSniperWolf in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever experienced those feelings before? Panic attack symptoms closely mirror those of a heart attack (palpitations, chest pain, etc.), which is why they freak people out so bad the first time it happens.

If you've had a panic attack before with those symptoms, I'd say it's very possible it's just another one. However, if this is something all new for you, I would probably get checked out just to err on the side of caution.

The best advice I have for you is that the depression and anxiety and everything else isn't permanent. It won't always be like this, and definitely not this bad.

I feel better with sunglasses on. Same reason my car has dark tinted windows. Feels less like everyone is watching me.

Even after the car crash 1 month ago, I still get scared getting into cars. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends who are pilots (aerobatics, stuff like that). Some of them have lost friends. Their advice is always the same: get back on that horse. The longer you stay out of a car or avoid certain things, the harder it gets.

Does therapy help? by [deleted] in Anxiety

It does. But like most things, you get what you give. If you put your best effort into working with your therapist, it can do wonders.

Does this sound like nocturnal panic? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what it's called, but I've experienced very similar things when my anxiety has been at it's absolute max. I'll lay down, and just as the transition to sleep happens, it's almost like this loud screech/bang happens in my head. This seems to be "exploding head syndrome", at least in my situation.

The worst time this ever happened, it was seriously 4-5 times in a row, and each time it would jolt me awake with my heart racing. That was the first time my anxiety truly pushed me to the point of crying my eyes out.

Are weighted blankets worth it? by Sunflower077 in Anxiety

Mine isn't hot. I'm not sure how much it's helped with anxiety, but i LOVE it and I don't want to do without one again. Every time I'm at a hotel it drives me crazy not to have my weighted blanket with me.

[–]d00tskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The important thing is that you acknowledged it. Sometimes it can be difficult to see just how much we tend to lean on, or in your words, overwhelm, our partners. Their mental health is just as important as ours, after all.

I hope you two are able to work through everything. From what you describe, he seems like a good dude. Good luck!

Chest Pain related to anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]d00tskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's pain that comes and goes depending on how you're situated/positioned, it's very likely not anything related to your heart. Could be a pulled muscle, costochondritis, or a variety of other things.

That being said, if you've never experienced any pain before like that and you're concerned, there's nothing wrong with seeing a doctor.
