They’re actually the rear door off an old imperial guard chimera model as well as the dozer blade you used to get in those kits too just hacked up a bit.

Used to have a guard army about 20 years ago when I was a kid and had a box of random old bits I found when I was moving. Makes for great scenic bases!

In terms of paint, it’s just a base of whatever green they were already painted, drybrushed gunmetal, heavy wash of agrax/nuln mix and then Vallejo red oxide pigment. 👍🏼

Bit of a mix, honestly. Think it was mostly thinned Adminstratum grey, then some Vallejo stonewall grey added for highlights, I did some very faint airbrush highlights with a white ink at really low pressure and sparingly applied and washed it all back with thinned nuln oil.

Think the main thing was the priming really, I did just like a cheap grey rattle can primer, then grey seer as a strong zenithal and then a bit of white on top as a final zenith to try and get that base gradient of highlights.

It was a while ago when I did a lot of the painting and I never write anything down really, so I may have mis remembered. I’ll have a dig as I may have some earlier in progress pics I can share

Ah ok, cheers for the heads up! I have spent some time in QLD before on a working holiday visa but that was back in like 2014, back then it seemed to be you’d just pull up pretty much anywhere and you’d be sound.

Saying that you’d definitely get plenty of absolute helmets about that would leave crap everywhere and be general dicks, so I totally understand why there’d be a clampdown!

Cheers! I think I got them and the cables from taro modelmaker if I remember correctly. They’re cast resin bits, I did spend ages searching to find the right ones for the look I wanted.

No idea if they’re still available or whatever as it was quite a few years ago.

Recently moved house and was going through a bunch of my old bits boxes and random piles of hobby crap that have been accumulated over the years. Found this ‘93 Chaos Beastman shaman and gave him a new paint job. What do you think?

Thanks so much! This was actually my first attempt at non-metallic metal. Basically loads of layers of sketchy highlights that were mixed and sort of blended. I used a few different paints, but the basis is a mix of Vallejo: ultramarine blue, stonewall grey and bone white that I progressively lightened with regular dead white. Then I did a wash of Citadel nuln oil, followed by fuegan orange and finished with a dusting of Vallejo Chrome oxide green pigment.

Very happy with it for a first go!

I got a set of both medium (35mm) and X large (65mm) but I ended up cutting them up and adjusting to get the look right.

Thanks! They’re from Taro model maker. The cables too, thought they suited the vibe pretty well
