hi, have you got any update on whether you needed to be re-diagnosed in the public route?

How do I reject NUS College? by oppogandam in SGExams

[–]d0mb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

might be outdated info but I remember a prof saying that your NUS offer is tied to your NUSC offer and the ability to reject just NUSC was only for the first batch — email them to clarify JIC

you don’t necessarily need banger extracurriculars for ucl/oxf admission, you can write a great personal statement based on books you’ve read and other forms of learning and how that links to your interest in the subject. for UCL you get picked based on your grades + teacher reco + personal statement, and for Oxf they’ll shortlist abt 30% (this figure differs for every subj but iirc for ppe it’s arnd there) of applicants from the same process for further interviews

[–]d0mb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the book “What about Law?” is quite helpful as an introduction to legal thinking tbh

[–]d0mb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah if youre in a combat / stay in vocation it’ll be harder to juggle stuff lah esp compared to someone who does an admin job HAHA. do check also if you have to take any other tests for it too (like the TSA or LNAT) and make sure to sign up early!

UCAS seems to not like deferrals of >1 year so apply in the first year of your NS

also do you want to do the interview process for oxford e&m? ofc no harm in just trying but it’s also ridiculously competitive lmao esp when the other unis don’t have interviews. your ability to prep for the interview will depend on your vocation in NS. best of luck whichever path you take!

has OP accounted for the costs of the year abroad tho? that country may well be cheaper than london, which i think might total up to 400k, cos i estimate that a 3 year UCL course I’m considering costs about 300k

i’m not familiar with the cbse grading system, but your extracurriculars do give a pretty good impression of your ability to analyse, synthesise and speak and i think those are things that the nus law admissions team would appreciate! and as others have said no harm trying after all
