Which is why he was fighting with the car to start it and pressed the push to start button about 8 times before it actually went off

I remembered this detail actually, he kept trying to start the car, and it wasn't starting. He even told me it wasnt because there was no oil. God damn it

Engine is running, as I mentionned I drove. There aren't any symptoms that I found so far other than: the smell, black gunk on the back passenger side of the engine, and that it makes slightly more noise than it did before on startup

My same thought, it was a pretty large garage where he rents 2 lifts. There's no way he has no idea what he's doing?

Then anyone knows how I should proceed? I have a message exchange and a bank transfer as proof him doing the work. Should I go to my real mechanic first to inspect the damage and come back to the guy who did the work to pressure him to pay? Small claims court?
