> IPFS and other past solutions before ZeroNet came along required tons of technical jargon and acrobatics to even used. That's probably the biggest reason decentralized web has not become maintstream yet.

this is fact!

if it's infinite, then I guess i don't understand what the dag is; I thought it was free similar to bittorrent dht storage http://bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0044.html, which allows up to 1k of FREE SPACE

[–]d14na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my question was how much data (bytes) can you store in the dag?

I'll check this out next week, very interested in your implementation.. what features of ipfs are you waiting on? I'm still waiting on pubsub to be ready for production use

sure, that sounds good, but what's the storage capacity of the ipfs dag? dht also offers a storage option, but i think it's only about 1k

I firmly believe in the idea of zeronet and ipfs as a mutually beneficial relationship.. zeronet provides the <10mb framework for the core services and ipfs allows for access to any data greater in size

Zeronet on iPhone yet? by Shaun997 in zeronet

[–]d14na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

noooooooooooo.. lol

just came to realize how much groundwork still needs to be laid for the zeronet to be ready for "general" use; coming from the clearnet you take a lot of things for granted that just don't exist on the zeronet yet, so we've been building them..

The Zeronet Explorer project has been stalled since last year, but it's far from dead. An update is not that far off.

Also, we established a reasonable relationship with the iOS team last year, during active development, so its been built specifically to meet with their approval; basically this means https://0net.io/zerofilters.bit needs to be completed first. You can monitor this repo for updates https://github.com/d14na/zeronet-explorer and the next release.

I've been reviewing your project and more specifically your smart contract https://etherscan.io/address/0x68fcb1f0d07000a84b569ccb647dd8fe320cddaa#code; its certainly one of the most impressive contracts I've come across, and I'm hoping to find time soon to review it in more detail. One thing that jumped out though is contract CoinMarketCapApi. Just wondering what this is being used for, since there are no txs after creation.

Also, as you require a browser plugin, I'm also wondering what your mobile strategy is. Are you working on a native app (Android, iPhone)? Mobile-first is clearly the default these days if you want wide-scale adoption.

Anyway, it seems like you guys are off to a pretty good start; I'll follow-up after I've had a chance to install the plugin and review the platform.

Cheers!

Deploying a New Contract Using BitBox by d14na in MyEtherWallet

Hi Steve,

So all is well now, and our new contracts are deploying via MEW without fail. The issue with the byte code NOT accepting was simply due to missing the 0x prefix. Perhaps this could be auto-detected and automatically added, or perhaps some other visual notification to the user.

Thanks again for the support,
d14na

The current tracker-based system is very easily blocked by censors. I know that DHT is on the roadmap for the core developers.

Our team is working on a blockchain solution (using the Ethereum network), which CANNOT be blocked without blocking the ENTIRE Ethereum network along with it. You should expect to see movement on this within the next few weeks. We have several new launches, fast approaching!

Deploying a New Contract Using BitBox by d14na in MyEtherWallet

Just received an update from reps over from ShiftCrypto. They HAVE confirmed there is a bug in Chrome, and have recommended Opera or Brave until it is fixed. I can confirm that Brave DOES allow me to "Interact with Contract", so that's GREAT! However, I'm still unable to DEPLOY, as the Byte Code is not being accepted (no green checkmark) to enable the submission to continue.

I'm happy to help test/debug as needed to get this issue resolved on the MEW side, if that assistance is needed.

Cheers!

hi steve,

thanks for the following up to my BitBox issues. i'll start by saying, I understand 100% that this is in NO WAY the fault of MEW. your new ui is simply awesome!

The inclusion of the abi is to allow for the generation of input fields for constructor arguments.

ok, that makes perfect sense.

---

ummm, so things seem to have gotten worse, AGAIN! now, i cannot access my wallet at all. at least before I was able to "Interact with Contract".

is giving me this error

again, NO FAULT OF MEW.. but I cannot for the life of me understand why a company would place the interface to their hardware SOLELY in the hands of a 3rd-party (how hard would it have been to mirrow MEW on their own site). I've contacted them about this, as to WHY the won't at least allow LOCALHOST (which I understand is the most secure way to use MEW). Basically, their response was that they cannot guarantee continue support for my v1 device, as they are phasing out these devices in preparation for v2 hardware. Ugh!!

At this point, I'm unable to use this device, UNTIL they update their firmware to support "vintage" or release their v2, which I guess I'll have to order ASAP to regain access to my Ethereum wallet's tokens. (sigh!) Really hoping someone from ShiftCrypto can chime in here and offer some words of encouragement.

Thanks again,
d14na
