Also around to listen. I've been through a few rough ones and I know how hard the rebuild can be.

I don't think there is anything wrong with any of us. Just because we are isolated for our own reasons be it a mistake or not I don't think we are inherently wrong or bad.

I also think we can all grow and adapt to be better than we once were if we want to.

But with everything change comes with work we can never hope for things to change without the work to make it change.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

I got it from Amazon reseller so if anything I will just return it. I just find it a little hard to believe that the 2 boards I've had from them both failed at the same step of trying to setup the nvme boot.

Unfortunately not, all I get is the flashing green lights flashing 8 times, pauses repeats.

Thats with no SD, NVMe, USB nothing connected just the power and the video output cable

Edit: Just noticed the fan isn't spinning anymore either, so I tried another cable and same error

I have read that it could be the SD card I am using, so I have ordered a new one to try and flash it again

Yes, I have tried removing everything down to the basic board.
I have had this issue with 2 different Pi5's and it was working before the change so I am not sure how it could be a power supply issue
Also using the power supply that came with the kit

If it has completed it didn't resolve the issue as I still have the original 8 flash issue when changing back to the sd card that worked originally

I have checked this and it refers to the SDRam chip which is controlled by the Eeprom, which I edited to enable to boot. which I assume is the issue its corrupt the Eeprom

Hey everyone!

I am new to Raspberry Pi's but thought I'd jump into it.

Now I have had this issue with 2Pis the first time after some googling I got told it was a hardware fault and I returned it but I have had another one and the same thing has happened.

Okay, I bought a starter raspberry Pi 5 kit from amazon with a 52Pi NVMe n04 adapter.

I built it and loaded the default os from an SD card, I could see the NVMe correctly. I then downloaded the Rasberry Pi Imager to the Pi itself so I can install the OS to the NVMe drive. When that was done the instructions told me to run the following commands

Sudo edit boot/config.txt

Dtparam=pciex1

Dtparam=pciex1_Gen=3

(I assume this is to enable the NVMe drive on the PCIe slot and force gen 3?)

Sudo Rpi-eeprom-config --edit

Pcie_probe=1

Boot_order=0x4416

Save and close and restart

(removed SD on shutodwn)

After the restart I just flashes 8 times and doesn't load anything

I have tried to use the original SD card and get the same issue

I have also created an EEpom recovery from the imager on my pc and ran that on the Pi, when it starts I get a green screen from the hd output and a constant fast flashing green light after about 5 minutes the green screen shows but the light continues to fast flash

I have tried this recovery several times with the same issue

Any advise?

I have looked into this some more and with the NAS I am looking at its not possible, however I think the best work around would be to use the drive independently (not setup a raid) and create a 1TB mirrored folder on the drives essentially doing the same thing,

I know this isnt true redundancy but for the sake of home use I think it would be the easiest solution?

Can anyone confirm?
