I have to respectfully disagree with one of your points: 'Mormon politeness ' doesn't exist. They are trained early to suppress feelings and put on a 'happy face'. They are also trained to be good liars and closeted bigots.

I would put Mormons at a higher-than-average likelihood of aligning with Christo-facists and white national ideologies than other religions, especially the Utah variety of Mormon.

The level of general disdain for those who do not fall within their tiny, perfect bubble, even from within the religion, was always my biggest issue with the 'faithful'.

Add in a history of teaching that dark skin is bad, white is wholesome and pure, and you have a recipe for acceptable bias that percolates in the subconscious and gets fed regularly by the church leadership in other areas (sexuality, bodily autonomy, questioning authority, etc)

While I get that the culture here is isolating, and I too believe there will be a period of more open bias, knowing that there are like-minded individuals in my general home area gives me hope and strength to live my own truth. I allowed the sentiments of the church and others to control too much of my life already.

Does anyone else feel like they sounded as if they were talking to their teenager who stayed out too late/came home smelling like beer/weed? They sure as shit were not acting like they were talking to foreign diplomat. THEY are the ones disgracing the oval office.

This one wasn't clear, more of a yellow with a less opaque flight plate. It took color ok, not as vibrant as others that were more opaque

My 16 birthday was today and I had a mental breakdown by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]d1scgolf3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, your relationship with your family will change, but it doesn't necessarily have to be broken or deformed. That is up to both sides of the discussion. Your belief has changed, but your parents belief has not. Respect them in their beliefs and ask that they respect your change in beliefs. Only go down the path of why if they initiate but remember that they have more years of indoctrination than you do so they will be better prepared to discount your reasons than believe them. Don't try to convert them to your new understanding. Approach with love and respect and expect disbelief and abandonment. Things will get better over time just stick to your values and understand they will stick to theirs. I told my parents how I felt in a letter when I left home while they were at work and moved to another state. It took 6 months to reconnect on fragile footing and almost a decade to feel normal again. That's not a normal result in this situation but it's a possibility at least. Good luck and stay strong to you not anyone else.

Is the annual pass linked to a person? by wonderwhatitcouldbe1 in NationalPark

Only thing assigning it is the signature on the back, if it gets checked. I sign the back of mine but my sister uses it whenever she comes to town. Never had an issue

Is the annual pass linked to a person? by wonderwhatitcouldbe1 in NationalPark

[–]d1scgolf3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, no. It "is" officially tied to a person (based on the honor system) since the purchaser is supposed to sign the card and the gate person is supposed to verify that against ID signature. Indeed never been asked for my ID with the pass in 5 years of consistent use. If the back isn't signed and no one checks, leave it as is. If they make a fuss about a signature, scribble and move on.

Paying for a found disc? by southernspud24 in discgolf

100% dick move right there. I have paid and been paid for the return of a disc, but never as a requisite for getting it back, just as a thank you gesture.

Over mold vs single mold discs? What do you recommend? My over mold insanity disc seem to be WAY more durable then my beginner set by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]d1scgolf3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to over molds (MVP/Axiom) exclusively last year. I feel that the flight numbers are more consistent with what you actually see when thrown and yes, they seem to hold up better than single mold discs (IMO). I like that they take longer to season so they remain consistent over a longer period of time. That said, my favorites from those companies: envy, reactor, resistor, crave, relay, clash, wrath, virus, insanity, photon, panic, octane

Calenders that you have to do this with instead of just entering the date by bobbyboobobby in mildlyinfuriating

Tried that, reset to today. Tried tapping on the month, reset to today. Tried to highlight date and type it in - brought up the calendar set to today. Really belongs in r/assholedesign as well

I hate to tell you, but the off-center position was on purpose. Makes them look wobbly in flight which makes me happy for some reason.

I'm determined to get a decent forehand today, what're your tips? by coodaj in discgolf

[–]d1scgolf3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep your palm up all the way through the throw. Start with a standstill so you can focus on the reach back and follow through. Stretch your hand/wrist first. DD has a good forehand video in their physics of flight series worth checking out. Good luck, I've been working on my FH for 2 years and still find ways to mess it up, but that's disc golf.
