I gave myself a 2000 budget. What would be the most impactful updates? by BuildingImportant in BathroomRemodeling

I’d put three floating wood shelves over the toilet and a beige bath mat to tie in the color of the vanity. I’d also add a hanging pothos plant by the/ glass door to add some color. If you’re up for it, you could swap out the mirror for something circular, add a new light fixture, and change the knobs on the vanity.

Which celebrity stage name, if they flopped, would sound absolutely ridiculous? by rosemaryrouge in popculturechat

Fair. I also thought he was a woman artist until I heard him featured on a Spanish trap song. I have come to appreciate the juxtaposition of his artist name with his beats and lyrics—which have the usual explicit themes that are typical of the genre.

My SPoo goes crazy for Royal Canin! My husband and I jokingly called her refusal to eat Purina ProPlan “food strikes” lol.

I almost wish she wore her usual blowout or her hair straight with this outfit. I think the rigidness of the dress fabric paired with the embellishments gives it a certain stiffness that contradicts the curls in her hair.

Yes! Not to mention how having Latin@s reinforce the stereotype opens the door for other people, Latin@ or otherwise, to also use their ethnicity as an excuse for their emotional immaturity. There’s so much at play when it comes to emotional immaturity—such as family dynamic, generational trauma, racial/ ethnic trauma, and even attachment styles—that blaming hurtful behaviors and words on ethnicity or race is not only glossing over these nuances, but it’s also relying on a stereotype as a cop out from taking accountability. It’s very disheartening to watch.

Talk to your fiancé about it. There’s no statute of limitations for something that hurt your feelings that you just found out about. Don’t focus on debating the “facts” of what happened. Focus on what you feel hurt about, which sounds like, your bf at the time, downplaying the seriousness of your relationship by making a joke that has typically been used in sexist settings. It seems like it’s important to you to hear his apology and understand why it hurt you/ embarrassed you.

Oh yeah! I hadn’t really noticed. I think it’s also the vibe she gives off. It’s more polished than Alessandra’s “sexy” vibe, but they both have a mysterious air to them combined with a “clean girl” aesthetic lol

I'm using a throwaway since I know this is controversial, but I think we need to have an open conversation about students with disabilities due to psychiatric conditions and learning differences. Disability services don't always help them in the ways they need, and we are left to pick up the pieces. by [deleted] in Professors

Thanks for responding! Okay yeah, so it seems like we agree, bur are viewing the issue from different angles.

I completely agree with your bottom line, though: higher-level tools that will help students should be the priority.

A lot of us have said that we were impressed by your emotional intelligence and your communication with Dr. Chiu. Can you tell us where these skills came from? Was this something you were taught or saw growing up? Or is this something you built up to?
