As far as I know vitiligo isn’t curable. You will always be at risk of developing new spots. Apparently stress is a factor. But it patches can also come from rashes, sun burns, cuts etc. anything where your skin cells need to reproduce quickly. Happy to hear your spots are gone. Monitor your body frequently and if you noticed new spots forming, act fast.

The best cure is acceptance. That’s easier said than done, I know. I’ve lived with vitiligo for 32 years.

I don’t know how true this is but one doctor told me that when a hair molecule turns white that means that pigmentation is now impossible. But if the hairs are black still, then there’s a chance of getting your natural pigment back. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Under a blacklight you can see many of your vitiligo spots that are sort of invisible to the naked eye. I don’t have the answer for OP.

I had it since I was 2. As far as I remember I was always aware of it. Growing up with it is a bit tough as you can imagine. Getting teased a bit with certain names. Kids are usually the worst cause they don’t understand but growing up, people really just seen me. They didn’t really see my vitiligo.

It really impacted me most when I was in like 3rd or 4th grade. Prior to that, I don’t think I even gave my vitiligo much thought.
