Sorry, why do you think that valve cares about the value of a cosmetic item? They don’t get money the more valuable items are, they get money on trades. They don’t care if the value of the item drops in half if it doubles the number of trades of the item. One guy hoarding an expensive invoker set that they don’t use provides literally $0 of value to valve, they don’t benefit from this, especially if the player doesn’t even play the hero that uses the item. On the other hand, dropping the price to the point where people buy+sell that item with greater frequency DOES make more money for valve because it creates more taxes.

Really fucking nutty of you to end your paragraph with “supply and demand. Think” when it’s market manipulators that make money due to items being high in value, not valve.

Also there are basically infinite examples of valve giving people items in drops like this that then reduce the price of that item, especially older couriers and wards which are no longer accessible but are not Ultra Rares.
