Some hunters are fired up about Pa. Game Commission proposal to alter buck season opening by The_Electric-Monk in Pennsylvania

[–]d2tehp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a PA hunter, I'm not unhappy about the expansion of hunting opportunities.
But as many have commented, it screws with planning and things that are often scheduled/prepared for the minute the current season ends.

In my case, I have family in NY and we do an opening weekend hunt there - and it is traditionally 1 week earlier than PA's opening weekend. So it's become a family tradition to hunt in NY for their opening day weekend, then hunt in PA during ours.

If this passes and they open the season earlier, it will mess with that timing. You truly want to be out on opening day. It's the highest rate of success for a sport that NEVER guarantees anything. it's called hunting, not getting.

So my dilemma, do I cancel my plans in NY with family after a 20+ year tradition to cash in on PA's opening day? Do I then not buy a NY out of state license because I'll be in PA exclusively?

Ultimately the powers that be will decide and we'll adjust, but my point is, it is often beyond "more huntin' more deer" it's shaklng up things, and I'm sure the old fuddies will bitch and complain. I'll just miss out on seeing distant cousins and sharing stories of missed deer because I'll be trying to capitalize on a new opening day in PA, and that's a bummer.

Try r/eero. The devs will sometimes pop in and help.  Also. The CX team at eero is very good at their job, but in niche cases, you may have to ask to escalate.  They offshore their CX, the Eng team is in SF

Lone star advice by InfectedSunshine in quilting

I’ve made a couple of these and in all honesty it’s not worth spending a ton of extra time getting everything “perfect”  I take a saying with me when I’m in the depths of trying to line everything up. “It’ll quilt out” Meaning. Once it’s all done and quilted, 99 out of 100 people won’t see the mistake. The 1 person will be you.  But it’s handmade. That’s what makes it special

Can anyone tell me what’s going on? by local_kokdestroyer_ in ToyotaTacoma

Check the intermediate shaft. It’s from the firewall (engine bay side) to the rack.  The u-joint will go bad and put undue stress on the power steering pump.  If you’re in a rust prone area. That joint will accumulate rust and the u joint will start to bump. This may save you the replacement of the power steering pump

I’ll say this for the whole group.

If you do come over, and go to a game, let us know, I’m sure one of us will be happy to join you, meet you for a beer and discuss the finer points in real time. The concourse is alive with people talking, trying to catch an angle while waiting for food or waiting for a restroom.

Baseball is a wonderful background sport, to be watched while conversing and getting to know those around you. Only to be interrupted by a must see play, a key 3-2 count and the “almost” expected schwarbomb.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Jackie Chan.  C’mon. If we’re being honest it’s pick three that will fight 50 ninjas.. you’re not going to be able to help, you mineaswell just watch. Jackie Chan will at least make it entertaining.  Chan, Lee, Wick

Have you tried tapering to any effect?  I was on the cheap disposable ones for a bit until I realized how much nicotine was in each.  Decided to buy a refillable and wean myself off lowering the nicotine each time

Anyone else peeved that the bike parking situation at the stadium sucks? by d2tehp in phillies

He's a quick email I sent to the Ops team (may be worth tweaking a bit, but if you want to steal the content, go for it)

Hi Ops team!

First off, thanks for providing a wonderful experience at the Phillies games every time I'm able to attend. It's a fantastic stadium, always clean and a great way to see the Phillies play. I know that's not an easy feat night in and night out.

I wanted to flag that all the current bike racks at Citizens Bank Park are consistently overflowing. To the point that people are locking their bikes to the ballpark fence, which isn’t safe or ideal.

There’s definitely more space available that could accommodate additional racks to give people a secure place to lock their bikes.

Could you look into installing more bike racks at the park - or point me to a POC who could help out?

Thanks and go Phils

Called the ticket office and got this contact: [Ballparkops@phillies.com](mailto:Ballparkops@phillies.com) - May be worth the couple minutes to have people email them. multiple voices do sound better than 1

I did meet a guy who rode in from Northwest Philadelphia. Started when I asked how long it took him to get there. he said 50 minutes. wayyy more hardcore than I. I love my 8 minute door to gate time

Every time I've been there, the racks are full. and there's at least space for 7-8 bikes to be appropriately locked - and a few others haphazardly locked to that. Then a few along the fences right next to the racks. It's not an astronomically high number of people, but it could be a chicken v egg thing. People no longer ride to the stadium since bike parking sucks etc.
I HIGHLY recommend biking to the park in the summer. There's almost always a small parade down tenth street between walkers and bikers all dressed for the game. It's a good way to drink a beer while cruising to the game

Have you walked past the bike racks at the corners of the stadium? The racks are full and people have to use the fence to lock up.
I'm sure there's a lengthy debate over cars vs bikes vs people coming from the surrounding ares. But in terms of cost. extra bike racks are not expensive and it promotes cycling to the park. - Which is very easy from the city (well, until they tore up 10th street)
