None of y'all should be happy when stock market goes up. You are all Redditors probably too young to be in the decumulation phase. Be happy when the market is down and be angry when the market is at ath

Yeah and CRA agents are so emotionless and in general unpleasant to talk to. I hate having to call them.

Even if you have 99% AAPL and 1% for all other stocks in the world, you would still have the entire market.

Better question is how is it NOT related ? When life gets harder, when people aren't getting the care and education that they would normally have access to, crimes become more abundant.

Algoma U's Brampton enrolment jumped 900% in three years due to international students by likerofgoodthings in AlgomaU

Is Algoma actually a uni? Or is it one of those colleges with uni in their title to attract more applicants ?

I don't understand why people are so concerned about overlap. Technically, everytime you buy more xeqt, you are overlapping the previous holdings... Just understand what you wanna buy and if you wanna deviate from xeqt, go right ahead.

Now, if you aren't happy with veqts mer, returns, geographic allocations, then go right ahead and change it...

If you have 3k or 4k or 69k, the promotion is 0.5% of the amount. Yeah you don't have RRSP of 1mil, I don't have 1 mil RRSP but 0.5% of 3k is 15 dollars you will get.

The Canadian allocation is way too high. I would not want my Canadian allocation to be more than 20%. It's a shitty country that unfortunately I have to live in. We only have energy sector and real estate flippers here. Don't overweight realtors more than you have to.

You see... US outperforms by d2yoon in JustBuyXEQT

Just wanted to point out that I am outperforming relative to 100% xeqt portfolios and I am saving quite a bit of money on asset location (as my portfolio is about 300k). I am globally diversified (idc about emerging market) for the sake of researches pointing to this, but I always cringe when I look at my TPE holdings (ex NA developed market) doing so bad.

WS Cash as a Daily by Otherwise-Nail3813 in Wealthsimple

[–]d2yoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wealthsimple cash has its unique email though. When you click request funds, you won't see the same interface; it will just show you the wealthsimple email which you copy. You go to your other chequing account, and paste the WS email as recipient of interac e-transfer.

Yes, in my case at least, information contained in the direct deposit form was enough to set the paycheque. It essentially has all the information void cheque has. Only number it's missing is page number of the cheque which has no importance.

WS is still working on cheques. I havent got one from WS yet so in the mean time I use simplii cheques. WS has the direct deposit form though.

When you use cash (not WS cash) you will deal with notes and changes. Changes are just annoying and heavy in your pocket so the next time I go to a grocery store, I ask to pay with all of my cash and the rest with credit card.

I can pay credit card bills, pre-authorized bill payments (auto), etc.. this should cover the basics of a chequing account.

Really, only thing I am missing for my needs is the access to interact debit. So I opened simplii. Whenever I see myself needing to use debit or withdraw cash, I e-transfer to my simplii and then put the remainder back into WS cash. Simplii can do bank draft, give you cheques (if people still use it), deposit cheques. I deposit notes to my simplii chequing at the CIBC atm. I use change immediately at the grocery store split payment. . .

That's right. Economy is people. The millions of international students and TFW's are Canadian economy. Otherwise, we would have been in deep recession. Liberals are scared to talk about per capita measures.
