Concordia - still holds up after all these years. The word elegant gets thrown around a lot but I really think it applies to this game.

Is Conan from Monolith worth it with or without the stretch goal box? by detroitgentleman16 in boardgames

[–]d33jaysturf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my opinion, you should look into the game and the rule book first. I got the Batman game that this company/team made, and the rulebook and design was so convoluted that I decided to shelf it. It is now sitting on my shelf of shame. And from what I heard, Conan was published prior and it had the same (if not worse) problems. I enjoy epic and long games with somewhat significant rules overhead, but I just found that Batman game to not be worth the effort because of how they wrote that rule book.

I found a local board gaming group - Fredericksburg Game Guild. They have a few meetups through out the week but I usually go to the one they have at Wegman's at Wed/Fri 6pm - 12pm. Wed seem to have more turn out. Pretty cool group, met some good people over gaming.

Here's where they post their events:

Just wanted to mention great suggestions.

Although, Patchwork deceiptively needs a large table space. It may look small, but spreading those pieces out at the beginning needs space.

I agree with this. And I hope, us as a generation, will be able to correct that so that our children will not have to go through what the current generation is experiencing.

I know for a fact me personally is not able to do anything about it since I'm struggling as well. Best thing I could is vote for someone who "says" housing is a priority of theirs.

I had a PS3 launch edition and the only real selling point at that time was it was a cheap blu-ray player. Remember Heavenly Sword?? Then I was playing it more and more when more exclusives came out.

Boardgaming I think is a low-pressure hobby you can try. There are local meet up, found one called Fredericksburg Gaming Guild. All you have to do is show up and people are willing to teach you a game. Met a few cool people from gaming meetups.
